Over the past number of weeks, meetings have taken place right across the country โ bringing together people from all walks of life. From those meetings, one clear message has come through loud and clear:
This government is not listening to the people who put them in power.
When ordinary, hardworking people cried out for help, we were ignored. When pressure mounted and people could no longer cope, we were left with no choice but to take to the streets. And when we did, we were not met with understanding โ we were met with resistance.
Letโs be clear โ we should never have had to protest in the first place. People who are working, paying their taxes, and trying to keep businesses and households afloat should not have to fight this hard just to be heard.
What has happened over the last few weeks has exposed a deeper issue โ a growing divide between those in power and the people they are meant to represent. And despite what some may try to say, we have shown that this government does not represent the majority anymore.
Yes, we are now seeing some movement in fuel prices. For some, that will bring a small level of relief โ but for many others, the damage has already been done. Businesses have been pushed to the brink. Families have been stretched beyond their limits. For some, there is simply no way back from what they have been put through.
But in the middle of all of this, something powerful happened.
We stood together.
Farmers, truck drivers, construction workers, small business owners, families โ people from every corner of this country came together as one. Not divided, not silenced, but united with a common purpose.
And because of that unity, we made history.
We showed that people power is real. We showed that when the working people of Ireland stand side by side, we are not something that can be ignored or dismissed. We proved that strength does not come from government buildings โ it comes from the people.
For now, we are stepping back from protests. But let there be absolutely no misunderstanding โ we are not gone away.
Meetings are continuing. Conversations are happening. Plans are being carefully considered. We are watching closely, and we are prepared.
We also want to address misinformation being circulated โ reports suggesting protests on Monday are completely false. That was never organised or agreed by us. We will always communicate clearly and directly when action is being taken.
If the cost of living, and especially fuel prices, rise again to levels that push people beyond what they can afford, then make no mistake about it:
We can do this again โ and we will.
To everyone who stood with us, supported us, sent messages, shared posts, and even brought food and drinks during the protests โ we want to say a genuine and heartfelt thank you. That support showed exactly what this country is about โ people looking after each other when times get tough.
Now, there is one thing we are asking of everyone:
Make sure you are registered to vote.
For too long, people have believed their vote doesnโt matter โ that nothing will ever change. But what we have just shown proves otherwise. When people come together, when they stand up and use their voice, change becomes possible.
The power has always been with the people โ now itโs time to use it.
We will see what the coming weeks and months bring. But do not mistake this moment of calm for weakness.
We are organised.
We are united.
And we are not finished yet.
