22 years young — and still turning heads

White Bay, one of our oldest vessels, is in outstanding condition, 2.5 years on from her last routine dry docking. From deck and cargo spaces to the engine room, the ship reflects the standards we apply across our fleet.

This doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of consistent, disciplined maintenance and the pride our onboard crew and shore-based teams take in keeping our vessels to the highest Pacific Basin standards, every day.

The condition of Pacific Basin vessels such as White Bay shows why our ships continue to attract strong interest from both cargo customers and buyers. Quality maintenance protects asset value — and just as importantly, it enhances safety, reliability and availability while safeguarding our sector-leading reputation and brand.

Well done to Team White Bay and everyone behind the scenes who support her ashore. Your professionalism shows — and it sets the benchmark.

At Pacific Basin, our strength comes from the diversity of our people — across our offices and on our ships — bringing together perspectives from around the world.

Today, UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, we celebrate the 41 nationalities and many other differences and perspectives that make our team so dynamic and successful. This diversity is reflected at every level, including our Board of 11 directors spanning 8 nationalities.

By valuing different viewpoints and making decisions on merit, we foster a workplace where colleagues can thrive and contribute to our long-term resilience. As an early signatory of the Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission’s Racial Diversity and Inclusion Charter, we remain committed to a culture of respect, non-discrimination and an inclusive workplace.

Together, our diversity continues to strengthen our resilience and global reach.

Today, we join the global maritime community in marking the 𝗜𝗠𝗢 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

We are proud to recognise the women who keep the industry moving forward every day – whether navigating the high seas or leading complex operations from ashore. Your skill, professionalism and commitment are essential to building a resilient, future-ready maritime sector.

At Pacific Basin, we believe diversity strengthens our business, improves decision-making and supports long-term success. Across our organisation – on shore and at sea – we are committed to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goal #5 on gender equality.

This commitment is reflected in our shore-based workforce, which is broadly gender-balanced, with women representing around 45% of our team.

We are also investing in the next generation of female seafarers, with a goal of reaching 5% female representation across our owned fleet by 2040. We recognise that progress at sea requires practical and cultural considerations to be addressed thoughtfully. Our focus is on making diversity sustainable – implementing change the right way, not the fast way – through practical measures that promote inclusion, safety and wellbeing on board.

To the women across our offices and fleet: your contribution is shaping a more inclusive industry every day. Thank you for helping build a maritime world where everyone can thrive.

Last month, Pacific Basin hosted a three day Officers’ Seminar in Manila, bringing together over 70 senior officers and shore‑based leaders to strengthen collaboration across our fleet. The seminar provided a valuable forum to exchange ideas, share experiences and reinforce our commitment to continuous improvement.

Across the programme, participants engaged in meaningful discussions on strengthening our safety culture, supporting seafarer wellbeing, advancing training and development, enhancing security awareness, and driving operational and technical excellence. These conversations underline our ongoing investment in our people and our unwavering focus on the highest operational standards.

A sincere thank you to everyone who participated and contributed. Your energy, experience and insights help propel Pacific Basin towards a safer, stronger and more sustainable future.

Every successful voyage is a testament to the unwavering dedication and seamless collaboration of our seafarers navigating the oceans and our office teams supporting the fleet from ashore. This synergy is the heartbeat that keeps Pacific Basin growing and thriving.

On this Labour Day, we honour the hands that work and the hearts that care. Thank you to every colleague across the world for your commitment and resilience!

At Pacific Basin, we look for practical ways to support the energy and wellbeing of our colleagues ashore, so that everyone has wind in their sails to perform and progress at work.

🎾 Pickleball has become a favourite PB activity since its launch in our Hong Kong office building this year. With over 100 colleagues taking part, it provides a lively way for teams to connect and recharge through sport, whether over lunch or after work. We also support colleagues who take on physical challenges that bring people together for charitable and team-building purposes.

🧘‍♀️Recognising the importance of mental wellbeing in a fast-paced work environment, new wellness programmes such as 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 and 𝘈𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘺 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 workshops help build resilience, focus and overall wellbeing.

Together, these initiatives help make Pacific Basin a supportive and energised workplace where our people move forward as one team. 💪

Pacific Basin was very pleased to partner with the Singapore Maritime Foundation and NTU Maritime Business Society for a campus visit filled with engaging discussion and strong student participation. 🤝

Colleagues from our Operations and Chartering teams, together with our Graduate Programme Lead, shared insights into Pacific Basin, the vital role we play in the global dry bulk shipping industry, and our Commercial Graduate Trainee Programme.

The students’ curiosity and thoughtful questions made for a rewarding exchange, and we enjoyed connecting with such an engaged group of future maritime professionals.

A big thank you to SMF and NTU MBS for hosting, and to the students for their enthusiasm – we look forward to staying connected. ☺️

𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 – 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁

Environmental Responsibility is a core pillar of Pacific Basin’s sustainability framework and central to how we operate our fleet every day.

Guided by our ambition to achieve net‑zero emissions by around 2050, we pursue a multi‑faceted decarbonisation strategy, including:

- Investing in innovative technologies to improve fleet energy efficiency
- Implementing carbon‑efficient voyage and operational practices
- Renewing our fleet with modern vessels of fuel-efficient designs
- Preparing for future investment in dual-fuel low‑emission vessels
- Developing priority access to green fuels

We also place strong emphasis on marine biodiversity protection by operating our fleet in compliance with MARPOL and other regulations, applying environmentally responsible operational practices, and monitoring and adopting advances in eco‑friendly paints, technologies and measures that help minimise our impact on marine ecosystems.

This Earth Day, we reaffirm our commitment to making responsible choices today that support a cleaner, more sustainable maritime industry for the long term.
