Left at 4.45 on Friday morning (24th January), to get to Ash, Kent. Needed to stop for a kip & had to wait for the truck, a hot-box, to arrive. Fitted a download & tracking device to this but had to remove a ‘Samsarà bag of s**t device in case it argued with ours! Also, a wire came away when I touched it, so I soldered that back in for the customer!
Then to Gillingham (Kent soft G) to fit / remove 2 x remote download devices. This was a bit of a trial, as one of the trucks to receive a device, was sent out & another one was going out. Had to put my foot down as the driver was ‘fannying about’ so fitted the device before I allowed him to leave! The replacement vehicle was an Isuzu, but as I have done a number of them now, it wasn’t too bad but more time consuming than the truck I was meant to fitting up!
It was then up to Keith Ripper country, Halstead, not Ipswich, for the last device. A very nice 4 month old Volvo tractor unit! That was an easy fit but Volvo have made things a little more difficult as you have to ‘make a path’ through from the centre panels to the back of the tacho. Again, I’ve done these before so knew what to do! After all that,
I was done by 8.00, still a long day
