Feels very surreal waking up this morning knowing the Queen is no longer with us. She’s been familiarity, always there and subconsciously somewhere I guess we all thought she’d be here forever.
Reflecting on her life, the journey she’s had, the service she’s given. All the change she will have seen. The challenges faced. The people who have come and gone. There are lots of touching tributes online, poetry and pictures. You can’t help but think of her family who are mourning the loss of a Mother, a Sister, a Grandmother & naturally that makes you think of your own personal losses.
The rainbows over Buckingham Palace yesterday were surreal. I keep replaying the moment the sign was placed upon the gates of the palace to announce her passing, just as they did in 1952 when her Father passed away whilst she was away on Royal Duties in Kenya.
That scene as her Father stood and watched her get on the plane in his place. That final glance at one another. Her life was about to change forever.
Her coronation - a beautiful, young lady - grieving the loss of her Father. Stepping up to a role that wasn’t destined to be hers. Whether my life is long or short…. 7 decades of loyalty, dedication & consistency to her duty.
Yesterday crowds gathered and together they sang God Save the King. A time of change, the end of an era.
God Bless.
