What have we been up to? The bank holiday was all about airports and the R1 Big Weekend. We had numerous journeys over there and back for our clients, who remarked the whole transport experience was, and we quote, "Seamless".
One our clients was a young lady meeting her little sis for her first festival. Mum had kindly given younger sister a bag for life, containing chicken sandwiches, so they "didn't go hungry"! 😆 (We love Mum's).

Suffice to say Daughter was mortified, but still had to check with big Sis, whether or not it was okay to jettison said sandwiches.

As our experience with Radio 1 was "Our Tune and Simon Bates" (look them up kids), we hadn't heard of most of the artiste there, but the weary, smiling faces at the pick-up told us every had a good time in the sunshine.

Newcastle International Airport, Central Station and a Wait and Return for couple visiting from America up to the Scottish Borders, via sunny Northumberland.

What do we do when said couple ask about places to eat? We recommended The Beehive - we even booked the table for them while they were in the car. It's the BTCS difference.

As you may or may not be aware, Newcastle International Airport has once again raised their drop-off/pick-up fees. The fees are now £6.00 for a car, £7.00 for a Multi for the first 10/15 minutes. It rises to £12/14 respectively for 11-30 minutes. Short stay 2, which used to offer 15 minutes free, but levied a £3.00 charge a few months ago, now rises to £4.00.

The airport has however kindly offered a free drop off, ½ half a mile away, with one shuttle bus every 30 minutes. There really needs to be intervention at the highest level for this extortion – and that’s what it is, pure extortion. We can’t think of any other business that charges its customers to use its facilities. Imagine going to Sainsbury and them saying, “yeah, that will be £3.00 to drop off”. There’d be an outcry.

NCL first brought in the charges, “to deter terrorism” after the Glasgow attack. Mercifully, this has worked as we have never had an attack – either that or we have a lot skint terrorists in this country. They then raised the charge to cover the money they lost during covid – like they were the only ones.

They now claim it is to manage congestion and fund improvements to the airport - they obviously haven't seen the chaos at the barrier caused by Gladys and Wilfred dropping their grandkids off for a booze-fuelled break away to Benidorm at 3.00am, who have absolutley no idea how the car parking machines work - or which lane to be in.

We are not sure where the money is going as the drop-off/pick-up area seems practically the same as it was 30 years ago, bar the new machines installed a couple of months ago, as the old ones were sold to Beamish museum. Lets face it, if you have to fund your improvements by ripping off your clients, your business model is all wrong.

There is absolutely no justification for these price rises and the 5 councils that own the airport should hang their heads in shame at the blatant profiteering at the expense of hard-working people.

We've been a bit quiet on the socials front lately. Sometimes you need to step back as the negativity and bickering can be very draining, so we've had a bit of a detox - plus to be honest, we've been enjoying the glorious weather we've been having!

Lights, Camera...and Action. It's all been trains, planes and film crews today. Multiple cars to the airport and Central Station and the V-Class taking a film crew from the U.S to various locations around the North East. Need a ride, use the company that treats all it's clients like stars.

The 'S' has been getting some love tonight. Taking full advantage of the fact it's still light after 8pm (whoo-hoo). We even did the engine bay. She is now gleaming like a new pin, ready to take you where you need to go.
