I don’t normally share things like this on the work page but I think this is a really important cause. 🤍

If anyone is able to sponsor my amazing friend Donna Woodhall who is competing in Gelt Gladiator this weekend I know she would appreciate any and all support. Even if you only can spare a very small amount, every single penny counts.

Donna is doing this to help raise funds to help to send Chloe to Cambodia with DentAid. Dentaid is a Dental Charity who provides dental care and oral health advice for people experiencing homelessness, harm, poverty and abuse.

Both girls work as dental nurses in Workington and this is Chloe’s story….

“In March 2027 I will be volunteering in Cambodia as a Dental Nurse with the dental charity, Dentaid. As a volunteer I’ll be working with local dental partners to run outreach clinics in schools, orphanages, prisons, slum areas and community buildings. We’ll be providing safe, free dental treatment for some of the poorest and most remote communities in the world. Each day our team will help hundreds of people out of dental pain. We’ll also be running oral health and toothbrushing programmes and working to promote dental health. Dentaid’s work continues all year round, providing equipment, sharing expertise and supporting projects that help people access life changing dental care.”

I’d hope anyone who heard this call to action would do exactly the same as we did. There are so many people who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Just one wrong choice, one business going bust, one relationship breaking down - and life can quickly look very different for any one of us. I visited Calderwood House about 18 months ago to talk about ways in which I could help and bumped into a resident who I knew, who I would have said had a picture perfect life, that interaction really did stop me in my tracks it drove home that if it can happen to them it genuinely can happen to me, you or someone in your orbit.

If there’s anyone else who can offer Rachel Holliday FRSA and Calderwood House any kind of support I urge you to reach out to her. It doesn’t have to cost you anything, it could be a skill you have, training you could provide, even just your time is precious. I know she would appreciate it.

Our Emergency Shelter Packs are a life-line to many across West Cumbria who find themselves street homeless. They are excellent quality, winter sleeping bags and sourced locally at Millets in Whitehaven. Last month we put a shout out as we were rapidly running out of funding for these and within min...

We’re excited to share that our Managing Director, Vicky Brown, has been selected as a finalist in the Driven Leader category in the Enterprise Vision Awards. This is all the more special as she was nominated by Marc Humphreys, a member of our team. The EVAs are national awards, so the competition was extremely high. Whatever happens on the evening being selected as a finalist is amazing.

This follows on from Vicky winning Business Person Of The Year award at the amazing Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster awards in November 2025 and The Mayors Award for Business Hero Of The Year in May 2025, congratulations on all of the success so far 🤩

As with everything we work together on with Workington Town Community Trust, we’re excited to extend our youth clubs in Workington to hosting a number of them at Broughton Moor Primary School starting on 29th April.

As someone who grew up and still lives in Broughton Moor I know how little there is for our kids to do here so please support this and give our project the success it needs to support more initiatives in the village.

Vicky

We’re excited to share some fantastic news with our community! 🎉

We will soon be hosting a Pop-Up Youth Club in partnership with Workington Town Community Trust.

Workington Town Community Trust already runs a range of brilliant youth clubs across the area, providing safe, welcoming spaces where young people can socialise, take part in fun activities, build confidence, and develop new skills. Their sessions are always engaging, inclusive, and focused on supporting young people to thrive.

The club will be open to all young people aged 8–14 years (Year 3 to Year 9), and we’re looking forward to welcoming children from across the community.

There is no cost to attend, making this a great opportunity for everyone to get involved.

In order to attend, all young people must have a signed and completed consent form. These forms can be collected from the school office.

Please note: this youth club is not being run by the school — we are simply providing the venue.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We can’t wait to see everyone there! 🎉

This new pop-up club has come directly from your voices. Through our School Council, and by working closely with Broughton Moor Development Group and Active Cumbria, we have listened carefully to what our village wanted — and a youth club was high on the list!

We’re really looking forward to bringing this opportunity to our young people and can’t wait to see it get started.
