Quite busy yesterday transporting a few of the young farmers around yesterday, personally found the ones l dealt with a great bunch obviously in high spirits but no hint of any abusive or offensive behaviour. Hope they enjoy their stay and other businesses do well and any issues are kept to a minimum 👍.

This is the first photo of the Cab when it was picked up a few years ago , it was owned by a London Cab Driver who lived in Burnham-on-Fosse ( East Essex) . The cab spent it's initial working life in London until like all London Cab's it became too old to be licenced anymore so it was sold off . Most cab's sadly end scrapped or used as parts which is a shame as they are built to last , due to the Dorset Council 2022 Taxi Strategy this cab has been given a working lifeline due to the wheelchair access facility, be under no illusion the cab has undergone a rigorous MOT and Taxi Test. It will be checked over again in a few months time and undergo a fresh Taxi Test to allow it to continue working in the borough it is licenced for use in Weymouth and Portland.

So last night on the rank had the usual shenanigans quite a bit of it "unusually" caused by an overindulgence of alcoholic beverages. The rank in question is the one outside Wetherspoons "elite" drinking establishment The Swan and it can be entertaining there at times . Firstly one of it's "guests" a somewhat typsy chap of about 60 plus came out for a fag break and spotted the London Cab and seemed somewhat emotional to see it and decided to strike up a conversation with me. He firstly got it in to his head that he'd knew me and the cab from London 🤔 now whilst the cab was previously in service in London the chances of him actually being even near it were somewhat slim and I've only ever been in London once with it when l picked it up. He then started on a rant about Uber drivers in London which whilst l agreed with l didn't really want to encourage him as he was getting quite loud and passionate 🤣 Then he spotted a couple getting in to the taxi parked in front of me ( it was first in line ) and started haranguing them to get in to my cab instead as it was ( and l quote ) a " British Institution" ! I managed to deflect him away from the innocent couple who escaped in to the first cab then l became next in line for a fare. I pulled forward in the rank but my ( or the cab's) best buddy moved up with us 🙄 which wasn't quite what l wanted . Then a middle aged couple approached looking slightly apprehensive ( well you would with a clearly drunken old man lurking around it ) and asked me if l was for hire , yes l said hop in but as they went to open the door our " elderly one man fan club " lurched forward and opened the door for them but not only that he sort of bowed and curtsied down as though they were some sort of royalty 🤣 Anyway they managed to get the door shut but as l turned around to ask them where they wanted to go we all became aware of the one man fan club outside saying an emotional goodbye to the cab in loving terms and then ( and l swear this is true ) he started kissing the cab goodbye on the door pillar 🥰😭😂. I made some comment to the couple that he appeared to be rather fond of London Cab's to which the woman replied in a somewhat dry manner " yes l think we gathered that " ......and pulled out of the rank leaving the heartbroken fan club behind !

Delighted to be advertising our local and much loved entertainment facility Weymouth Pavilion , currently advertising it's Christmas Panto. As a lot of us will know prior to the current management the future of The Pavillion was in doubt but now back to being a great entertainment venue. But do remember folks " Use it or lose it" !
