🚆 As National Apprenticeship Week draws to a close, we’re proud to keep celebrating the incredible journeys of former apprentices at Great Western Railway and the impact they’re now making for others.
Our apprentices are at the heart of our railway, and we’re passionate about supporting them not just through their training, but throughout their careers.
✨ Meet Sophie ✨
After completing her customer service apprenticeship, Sophie is now a Coach & Mentor on our apprentice programme, bringing something truly special to the role. Having been through the scheme herself, Sophie understands first-hand the challenges, opportunities, and experiences apprentices face.
Her lived experience allows her to offer genuine guidance, relatable support, and real insight, helping apprentices build confidence, develop their skills, and realise what they’re capable of achieving. Having mentors who have walked the same path plays a vital role in creating a supportive, inspiring learning environment where apprentices can truly thrive.
Sophie’s journey shows how apprenticeships can open doors to long-term, fulfilling careers, while also creating role models for the next generation joining the rail industry.
We’re incredibly proud to have Sophie as part of and can’t wait to see the continued impact she makes.
