Stansted Airport have increased their drop off and pick up fee by £3 from £7 to £10

As such, it is with regret that we will have to increase our price accordingly by £3 each way to cover this increase.

Please note that there will be major disruption at the Black Cat next weekend (15 - 18th August) but the end result should make life easier for people coming back from Bedford/Milton Keynes

🚧 Upcoming road layout change at Black Cat roundabout 🚧

From Monday 18 August, three new sections of road will open to traffic at Black Cat roundabout, linking in with the existing road network. These are:

✅ The new A421 eastbound to A1 northbound free-flow link.
✅ The new A421 westbound on-slip road from Black Cat roundabout.
✅ A realigned Bedford Road.

A421 eastbound traffic will no longer approach the Black Cat roundabout, instead taking the single-lane free-flow link directly onto the A1 northbound.

The northern section of Black Cat roundabout will remain closed restricting movement from the A421 onto the A1 southbound.

The A1 northbound and A1 southbound approaches to the Black Cat roundabout will remain unchanged.

🚧 Road layout change at Black Cat roundabout 🚧

From 8 July 2025, the northern section of the Black Cat roundabout will close as we begin construction of the new A421 flyover bridge and lower the A1 carriageway for the three‑tier junction.

Here's what you need to know:

🟢 A421 eastbound traffic will only be able to use the A1 northbound exit. Drivers wishing to travel southbound are to continue north on the A1 to Wyboston then loop back southbound, or exit the A421 at Cardington and take the A603 towards Sandy.
🟢 The A1 southbound approach will be reduced to three lanes. A concrete barrier will be installed to separate traffic on the A1 southbound with other routes to ensure vehicles stay in their lane while using the roundabout.
🟢 There will be no change to traffic on the A1 northbound.

🚦 The traffic lights on the A1 southbound approach will be removed when the northern section of the roundabout closes. This will reduce congestion and improve the flow of traffic through the roundabout.

🚧 Upcoming A1 Closures 🚧

As our construction work continues at the Black Cat roundabout, there will be several overnight and weekend closures on the A1.

🔴 A1 southbound between Black Cat roundabout and Tempsford - overnight (9pm to 5am) - Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 May 2025.
🔴 A1 northbound between Tempsford and Black Cat roundabout - overnight (9pm to 5am) - Monday 19 until Friday 23 May 2025.
🔴 A1 northbound between Tempsford and Black Cat roundabout - from 9pm Friday 30 May to 5am Monday 2 June 2025.

Our work includes installation of a new safety barrier, site clearance, and sheet piling at Kelpie Marine.

A signed diversion route will be in place.

Please plan your journeys accordingly and allow extra time to complete your journey.

Please be aware that some people are receiving text messages saying that they have received a PCN (Parking Charge Notice) with a link to pay.

This link takes you to a fake copycat government website asking you to provide personal and payment information.

DON'T click on the link and DON'T provide any information.

Councils will never contact people via text message about a PCN, only by post or placement of the PCN on your windscreen.

Luton Airport finally has a new drop off zone outside the terminal building.

This costs £5 for first 5 minutes then £1 per minute thereafter.

It is a dedicated express drop off as they put it with the pick up still being in the mid stay car park.
