Well that’s a wrap folks.

Liam Signing off as Manager of Lakeshore Railroad.

I know Matthew who usaully does our posts will not like me writing this post, as I will have mistakes in it.
But Not sure how to put into words how I feel.
But the last 18 years have been a journey, I will always remember and it has been an absolute pleasure to have been your train driver round the lake.

So thank you for all your kind words, cards and gifts you have brought down.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers and Mike the owner for not just putting on a show this weekend for me but for the last 18 years.

Mountaineer will be hauling trains today while Adiela gets some more running in turns after her overhaul, all being well she will be joining Mountaineer on the service train later this afternoon:)

🎙 The Reay-Away: A Hello And Goodbye 🎙

As one chapter ends, so another begins; this weekend coming marks Liam Reay's last weekend as General Manager of the railway, before departing for a new adventure as a driver/engineer at the Ravenglass And Eskdale Railway.

The 'face' of the railway to many, he will be a big miss by staff, volunteers and our dedicated band of regular passengers alike. He will, of course, be back as frequently as he can to volunteer and keep 'his' Mountaineer in fine fettle. We could (and will later) wax lyrical about his time at the helm, but the 21st and 22nd are all about Liam, so it rightly should be summed up in his trademark style.......

"Lots of trains running this weekend, everything out, be lovely to see you. :) "

And yes, you read that right; check back later this evening for a dedicated post about a certain little maroon engine!

No trains today 😞

Trains are running today! Yes, you heard that right! Why not jump aboard a "frostbite" service through the snow on our last day of daily running? ❄️

Please be aware, after further sub-zero temperatures overnight, the paths can be a little icy, so please do take care walking around the park. Minchella's cafe is also open today, meaning you can grab a warming drink for your train trip, or watch on from inside whilst staying toasty. 🔥
