Welcome to the latest member of the fleet to join us here in Shrewsbury.

1953 built, RF504 new to London Transport and originally red.

We will be working our magic over her in the next few weeks and will be ready to hire for your special occasion.

RF504 seats 39 people and can get to places where our double deckers can not.

Our 1979 Leyland National will be back on the T1 Shrewsbury and Ironbridge sightseeing tour this Sunday 10th May 2026.

One of our drivers is showing how the semi automatic gearbox is driven.

Individual drivers have different methods for pausing between the gears as that is very important as going straight from one gear to another will damage the gearbox.

Techniques can vary such as listening to the engine revs drop and then engage the next gear when it is just right.

Others as shown, time it by coming out of gear, moving the lever across and back again to create the right timing.

Please note that the T1 will not be going up to the Museum of Iron at the moment as the museums have not reopened yet under the National Trust and the gates are locked for us to get in anyway.

Tomorrow on May 3rd 2026 is the start of our T1 Shrewsbury & Ironbridge sightseeing tour.

This will be operated by our single decker 1979 Leyland National LS343, there will be no commentary on this bus, just a chance to ride a once common bus as well as being the only local bus route to run in Shrewsbury on a Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

If you cannot make tomorrow, there is May Sunday 10th also as we now run it on the first and second of each month until mid September.

Please note that the bus is not low floor or wheelchair accessible as it is a heritage vehicle.

Your day ticket allows you to ride both trips if you want to, or to hop off on route such as Wroxeter Roman City, Attingham Park or to stay in Ironbridge longer and then rejoin later on.

As a note about soon to join RF504, we may consider running her on the tour as a one off in duplicate with the National but will announce if we can do that.

If the weather improves and only a small chance of rain for this Bank holiday Monday and Tuesday, our open top bus SOL1 will go on our T1sightseeing tour instead of our closed top bus DLA273.

Our Leyland National LS343 is set to start the tour for this Sunday and the following Sunday.

Our Routemaster RMC1490 is set to run this Wednesday and the following Wednesday.

Please note that our T1 does not serve Shrewsbury railway station anymore, instead it serves Shrewsbury bus station, Stand S as shown.

We will be welcoming a new member to the fleet soon and will be available to hire.

RF504, New to London Transport in 1953 and one of the last of the RF's still in service in the Kingston Area in London in 1979.

For Shropshire people though, 2x RF's did operate in Oswestry at one point so not a unfamiliar bus type to the county.

Our VWL125 went to visit RF504 on the way back from a hire to see if she would be joining us in Shropshire at Regional Transport ltd.
