⚠️SAFETY INFORMATION FEEL FREE TO SHARE
Good afternoon everyone,
Our team would like to share some safety information with you after noticing an increase of crashes and accidents on the motorways recently.
If you find your vehicle 🚗 has issues or has broken down and needs to stop on the motorway here is what to do:
If the vehicle has crashed call the ambulance first if needed then call the police DO NOT exit the vehicle until authorities arrive unless all traffic has come to a stop and you are able to move. If able to make yourself visible with high-viz clothing and proceed to exit the vehicle maintaining extreme caution ⚠️ IF TRAFFIC IS MOVING REMAIN IN THE VEHICLE UNTIL EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE ARRIVES⚠️
Once out of the vehicle make your way to the left of the motorway and place yourself and passengers on the other side of the barrier unless told differently by emergency services.
If the vehicle comes to a stop in the middle of the motorway do not panic stay calm and simply put on your 🔻 hazzard 🔻 warning lights making sure all occupants of the vehicle are wearing their seatbelts, then immediately call the police or national highways for assistance.
⚠️NEVER EXIT THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOTORWAY UNLESS TRAFFIC HAS COME TO A STOP OR TOLD TO DO SO BY AUTHORITY⚠️
If the vehicle is moving or able to move:
First, if possible take the next slip road away from the motorway and pull over.
If there isn't a slip road available then start by using your indicator to signal you are about to merge into the next left lane and when it is safe to do so steer your vehicle to the next left lane. If you are in the second or third lane then repeat this process again if it is safe to do so until you get as far left as possible.
If your vehicle comes to a stop before reaching the left then as above use seatbelts, hazzard lights and immediately call 📞📱the police 🚨 or national highways for emergency assistance.
Second, once reaching as far left as possible come to a stop in the emergency areas, hard shoulder, lay by or grass verge if any of these are available if not as far to the left as possible. Once you are coming to a stop turn on your hazard warning lights.
Third, once your vehicle has come to a complete stop and you have turned on your hazzard lights, all passengers and the driver must immediately exit the vehicle using the PASSENGER/LEFT side of the vehicle. Put on a high - visability vest if you have one available or make yourself visible.
⚠️DO NOT EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE. WE CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!⚠️ EXIT FROM THE LEFT ONLY.
Fourth, once all occupants are out of the vehicle, there will be a barrier or long grass verge. Immediately get all occupants on the other side of the barrier or up the grass verge as far away from the motorway as possible keeping well away from the vehicle or any moving traffic.
Lastly, once all occupants of the vehicle are safe and out of harms way then call the police, national highways or a recovery specialist who will be able to assist and recover the vehicle safely.
NEVER RETURN TO YOUR VEHICLE OR APPROACH MOVING TRAFFIC AS IT CAN AT ANY MOMENT COLLIDE WITH YOU OR THE VEHICLE.
ONLY APPROACH THE VEHICLE IF TOLD TO DO SO BY POLICE OR AUTHORITY.
