Our 125th Anniversary Weekend takes place this weekend 16th and 17th March 2024, bringing together the Great Central Railway and the Great Central Railway Nottingham in a joint event.

There are many attractions to see across the two railways, and trains are running between Loughborough Central and Leicester North, including the Mountsorrel Branch. We're running a bus service to connect the two railways at this event.

The secret's out!

92214 returns to original British Railways livery in time for our Winter Steam Gala.

Our resident British Railways Standard Class 9F 92214 has been hidden away in recent days inside our Loughborough Locomotive Works to receive a repaint, into the original unlined black livery which was so familiar on this class during their original service in the late 1950s and 1960s.

92214 is due to be in action at our Winter Steam Gala which runs from 27th to 29th January 2023. The passenger train timetables for the event are now available on our website.

Despite the inclement weather, work continues out on the railway.

Our 76 tonne diesel crane is seen here inside an engineering possession at Quorn & Woodhouse, on its way to Bridge 343 to the south of the station, as part of the final stages of planning for upcoming engineering works.

We're making plans for an interesting revised service involving the Mountsorrel Branch from late February until late March 2023 while these works take place. More details will be published soon!

We're running trains normally between Loughborough and Leicester North until the works begin in late February.
