Deemed safe to use by another trailer company, we had a different opinion...

Axles that had been 'cut and shut', missing mounting points (one axle was only held on by three bolts) and holes through the brake backplates, it was time for a running gear overhaul and update.

Complete new running gear fitted and this lovely catering trailer is now fit for decades more service for the lovely people at

Why buy new, when you can refurbish what you have?

Most people would have deemed this little trailer unviable, but the chassis and axle were good and we saw the potential. The customer was very happy, particularly as the sides, headboard and ramp tailgate were made from offcuts we had in the workshop.

A new 18mm floor, LEDs and some additional parts and it's good to go for another 25yrs.

An Ifor Williams HB506 brought to the workshop, by a new-to-us customer, all the way from Essex, after discovering the dreaded panel rot, next to and under the groom's door. It also meant that the door frame was flapping about, making the door very difficult to open and close.

The only way you can buy a replacement panel, from Ifor Williams, is as a groom's door and panel kit: Part number KS309RL-06D at around £388 + vat. That's just the panel kit, not the labour, not the fixtures or fittings. This lady was quoted £850 for the work to be done locally. We were confident we could do better.

We took off the metalwork and trim panels then carefully removed the rotten wood and glue, back to the internal aluminium skin. A new piece of GRP panel was cut to size and bonded to the original skin and all the metalwork was refitted. The panel is now solid again, the door works perfectly and the only sign of repair is the small trim piece inside. Whilst with us it was given a full service too.
