A massive well done to our very own Richie Alford for completing the Plymouth Half Marathon in support of the Claire Chick Nursing Fund. 🏃‍♂️👏

Richie has put in the training, shown real commitment, and crossed that finish line for a brilliant cause that helps support nursing students when they need it most.

💚🟡 **One final push for Richie and Paul this Sunday!** 🟡💚

This Sunday, 17th May, our very own **Richie Alford** — Driver Liaison Manager here at **Need-A-Cab** — will be taking on the **Plymouth Half Marathon** alongside **Paul Maxwell** and the **CTT group**. 🏃💚

Richie has not just turned up on race week — he has been out running with the group all year, putting the miles in, supporting the cause, and now it is time for the big one. We are incredibly proud of him.

But this run is about something much bigger.

Paul Maxwell is taking on an unbelievable challenge — **100 half marathons in 50 weeks** — to raise **£40,000 for the Claire Chick Nursing Fund**.

Dr Claire Chick was a nurse, lecturer at the University of Plymouth, and a true inspiration to so many. She believed in giving nursing students opportunities, support, and confidence — especially those facing financial hardship or difficult personal circumstances.

The fund in her name continues that legacy, helping nursing students through training and supporting travel bursaries so future nurses can gain life-changing experience.

Paul is honouring Claire’s legacy mile by mile, week by week, in all weathers — and this Sunday, Richie will be right there beside him in Plymouth. 💚

Now we need one last big push.

Paul Maxwell is taking on an incredible 100 Half Marathons in 50 weeks to raise £40,000 for the Claire Chick Nursing Fund — and the story behind that fund is one worth knowing.
Dr Claire Chick was a nurse, a lecturer at the University of Plymouth, and one of those rare people who didn't just teach — she inspired. She championed her students fiercely, opened doors for those who might otherwise have had them closed, and even helped create the ENNE European Nursing Networking Conferences, taking students every year to make sure no one was left behind because of their background or circumstances.
The fund set up in her name supports nursing students facing financial hardship and domestic difficulties, and funds vital travel bursaries so the next generation of nurses can experience exactly what Dr Claire Chick believed in — that nurses change lives, and every student deserves the chance to prove it.

Dr Claire Chick was a passionate nurse and lecturer at the University of Plymouth who dedicated her life to supporting the next generation of nurses. Driven by an unshakeable belief in what nurses can achieve, she didn't just teach — she inspired, she championed, and she opened doors for students who might otherwise have had them closed.
The fund set up in her name helps nursing students facing personal hardship, domestic violence, and financial difficulties. It also funds vital travel bursaries so students can attend the ENNE European Nursing Networking Conferences — conferences that Dr Claire Chick herself helped create and champion, taking groups of students every year to ensure no one was left behind because of their background or circumstances.
