🔧 We’re hiring: HGV Trailer Mechanic - Manchester
Collease Truck and Trailer Rentals is looking for an experienced HGV Trailer Mechanic to join the Manchester depot team.
📍 Depot: Manchester
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm
• 42.5 hours per week
• Competitive salary
• 31 days holiday including Bank Holidays
This is a hands-on role focused on keeping our trailer fleet safe, compliant, roadworthy, and ready for customer operations. The position includes workshop-based maintenance and repair work, alongside occasional field-based repairs and breakdown attendance when required.
Key responsibilities include:
✔ Carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGV trailers
✔ Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently
✔ Inspecting trailers to MOT standards and identifying defects
✔ Completing pre-delivery inspections in line with company procedures
✔ Accurately completing job cards, inspection records, and related paperwork
✔ Working independently and collaboratively within the workshop team
✔ Liaising with the Depot Manager regarding work progress and priorities
✔ Maintaining a safe, clean working environment and following all health & safety procedures
✔ Supporting breakdown response and field repairs when required
We’re looking for someone with:
▪ Strong HGV trailer maintenance and repair skills
▪ The ability to diagnose faults and inspect to MOT standards
▪ Good time management and accurate paperwork completion
▪ Strong health & safety awareness
▪ A reliable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious approach
▪ The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable experience and qualifications:
⭐ HGV licence
⭐ NVQ / IRTEC or relevant mechanical qualifications
⭐ Experience working with different trailer types or specialist equipment
⭐ Welding / fabrication skills
⭐ Flexible, proactive, customer-focused attitude
