Today marks the seventh anniversary of the passing of Violet-Grace Youens, who died in her parentsβ arms after being hit by a stolen speeding car on Prescot Road the day before π
The four-year-old's brave parents donated her organs, inspiring more than 4,000 fellow St Helens residents to also sign up to be organ donors
The sentencing of those who caused her death caused 167,000 people to sign a petition, which led to a parliamentary debate and now law change, meaning those who cause death by dangerous driving can face up to a life sentence π
In the years that have passed, Violet's dad Glenn said that her legacy has "inspired us, her spirit has left a mark on us, and her courage in donating her organs has given us hope", despite the pain that comes around with each anniversary.
Glenn added: "As we navigate this painful anniversary, we hold onto the memories of our sweet Violet-Grace, finding solace in knowing her spirit shines brightly in the lives of all who knew and loved her" π₯
Please today spare a moment for her family, and send supportive messages to them in the comments below.
