It’s been one of those dreaded Fridays, poor old Mike out on the Merc rigid Hiab today, if it could have gone wrong, it has.
Mike left the yard early this morning to make way to Horsham then onto London, he got as far as junction 9-8 on the M20, dash lights up with coolant low “STOP”, two colleagues attended Mikes location and found that a coolant pipe had split, this was repaired at the side of the motorway so Mike could carry on his journey to Horsham.

30 minutes later the office received another call from Mike, he’s now had a blow out on the rear axle, you can see from the pictures the severity of the blow out.
Thankfully Mike managed to bring the vehicle safely to the hard shoulder, with debris flown over the motorway there was a two lane closure in place until the lanes were clear.

Hats off to Watling Tyres, they attended the vehicle in a timely manor, fitted a new tyre so the vehicle could make its own way back to the yard.

Now to repair the wheel arches, marker lights and storage boxes, hopefully all in time for the lorry to be back out on the road again Monday morning 🙏

All our vehicles are maintained to a high standard and inspected regularly.

Another week completed with a wide variety of works.
Mike’s been out in the Mercedes Artic, he’s had a week of traveling round the country and as far up as Scotland on general haulage works while Dean has been out in the Daf Artic but stayed a little more local, well, if Wales is local- moving plant, forklifts, timber and steel, Alf has been out in the Mercedes rigid with the crane delivering aggregates and steel.
