Information for Parents/Carers
• Passenger Transport Department.
The primary purpose of this service is to arrange travel assistance for pupils who meet the eligibility criteria. As such, priority is given to these pupils. While we do consider enquiries about discretionary travel, please note that these are not a statutory requirement for the Council and are therefore addressed after eligible applications have been reviewed.
• Application Deadline
The deadline for school transport applications is the 30th June. Transport provision cannot be guaranteed to be in place for the start of the new term for eligible applications received after this date.
Applications received after the 30th June are continuously being processed and you will be contacted once your application has been processed.
• Mainstream Applications (Before Deadline)
Secondary pupils - If you applied before the 30th June and your application has been approved you will receive a letter providing details of your child’s allocated route and a bus pass.
Primary pupils will receive a letter providing details of your allocated route which must be shown to the driver on the first day of travel.

• ALN Applications (Before Deadline)
ALN applications are assessed by the Education department, if you have any queries regarding eligibility please e-mail: [email protected]
If your application has been approved you will be sent communication on details of the transport provider. Parents/Carers must contact the transport provider to arrange a meet and greet with the crew.
• Vacant Seats
Vacant seats may be available for pupils who are not eligible for transport. These are considered after all entitled pupils have been allocated seats.

Discretionary offers of vacant seats will be communicated as follows:
• Autumn Term: during October half-term
• Spring Term: during February half-term
• Summer Term: during May half-term
Please note that no communication regarding vacant seats will be made outside these periods.

• Local Bus
