Monday morning reminder from behind the wheel 🚍☕

Before anyone calls professional drivers “low skilled” again… here’s a little insight into what it actually takes to sit in that seat.

To become a qualified bus or coach driver requires:

✅ Driving examinations
✅ Interviews
✅ Medicals
✅ Comprehensive theory tests
✅ Hazard perception tests
✅ Written case studies
✅ Highway Code examinations
✅ Practical PSV driving tests
✅ CPC training
✅ Vehicle safety checks
✅ Health & safety training
✅ Fire awareness
✅ Disability awareness
✅ Equality training
✅ Tachograph compliance
✅ Route learning
✅ Ongoing assessments and continued training throughout your career

And after all that…

You’re expected to safely manoeuvre a vehicle the size of four or five cars, carrying up to 120 passengers, weighing many tonnes, through city centres, country lanes, motorway closures, tourist hotspots and school traffic 😅

All while staying calm, professional, courteous… and somehow still smiling when someone asks:
“Are we nearly there?” five minutes after departure 😂

Professional drivers aren’t “low skilled.”
They’re trusted with lives every single day.
