🚗 Two drivers were given advice after testing positive for traces of alcohol in their system during drink and drug drive campaign checks on the A179 in Hartlepool this morning (Friday 8th December).

The two drivers were not over the drink drive limit, however, had traces of alcohol in their system.

👮🏻‍♂️ Officers would remind people that alcohol or drugs can stay in the system for many hours afterwards, and whilst someone may feel fit enough to drive the next morning, they could still be in excess of the legal limit. Police would advise not to get behind the wheel whilst under the influence, but to arrange a lift or a taxi.

A total of 140 drivers were breathalysed this morning as the campaign continues throughout December and into January.
