Hartford PBM-115 Installation & Assembly – Part 2 🔧🏭

Following on from the decommission and transport of this Hartford PBM-115 machining centre, A.I.M.S. were also tasked with the installation and full rebuild of the machine at its new location.

Due to tight access caused by the overhead crane structure, the installation required careful planning and precise lifting throughout the job 🏗️📏.

The machine base was positioned first, ready for the main column installation. In order to safely install the column onto the base, we temporarily removed one of the overhead beams, which allowed us to carry out the lift safely and accurately 🔩. Once the column was correctly positioned, the beam was refitted.

The machine was then reassembled section by section, reinstalling all guarding, mechanical components and previously removed parts 🔧⚙️. Thanks to the work carried out during the decommission, where every electrical wire was labelled, reconnecting the electrical cabinet was completed efficiently and correctly ⚡.

As this machine runs high-pressure coolant and oil, all guarding was carefully sealed during installation to ensure everything is fully contained and ready for operation 💧🛠️.

Hartford PBM-115 Decommission – Part 1 🔧🏭

A.I.M.S. (Associated Industrial Machinery Services) were recently tasked with the full decommissioning of a Hartford PBM-115 machining centre.

Due to the customer’s access restrictions and the location of the machine within the facility, the job required us to strip the machine down to a bare shell, removing all guarding and dismantling each individual section to allow it to be safely removed from site and prepared for transport and future reinstallation.

The electrical cabinet was carefully disconnected, with each wire individually labelled and marked ⚡. Taking the time to do this ensures the rebuild process is much quicker and more efficient, while also guaranteeing everything can be reconnected correctly.

Once the machine had been fully stripped down, the individual components were loaded onto lorries using a 20-ton overhead crane 🏗️🚛, allowing the heavier sections to be lifted and handled safely.

A well-planned and organised strip down like this is essential when relocating large CNC machinery, and our team ensured everything was prepared for the next stage of the project.

This Torni Tacchi lathe was fully prepared by our team ahead of transport. All axis were secured, the electrical panel was safely disconnected, and every wire was individually labeled and photographed to ensure a smooth and efficient reinstallation.

Another successful heavy move completed by the team at A.I.M.S. (Associated Industrial Machinery Services) 💪

This project involved a Gurutzpe A-1600 4G lathe, weighing approximately 30 tonnes.

We began by carefully preparing the machine while it was still under power, moving the axis to ensure correct weight distribution and safe handling. Once fully secured, the lathe was skated across the factory floor to the exit door with precision and control.

Due to the weight of the machine, we carried out a tandem lift using a 40/60 Versa Lift alongside a 20-ton overhead crane to safely load out.

The lathe was then transported and successfully offloaded at its new location using a 60/80 Versa Lift.

Planning, precision, and the right equipment for the job — another safe and efficient relocation completed.
