people travelling to Loch Lomond should be travelling to Helensburgh as if you want to go to luss or anywhere else in Loch Lomond along the A82 if you go to Balloch the local taxis are double the rate of Helensburgh taxis to take you to Luss or anywhere else up the A82 E.G £60 each way to luss when its £22 to £30 on our taxi meters depending on passenger amounts and time of day, We do not charge a boundary charge to go out of Argyll and bute council, Call 01436 678888 to book your taxi and come to Helensburgh central instead of Balloch or you will be paying double to come in to argyll and bute council area as the Balloch taxis are west Dumbarton council licenced not Argyll and bute licenced and can only do hires in and out of west Dumbarton council like argyll and bute taxis can only do hires in and out of argyll and bute council area, Private hire can take pre-booked hires in any council unlike a taxi.

Fares and Charges
Argyll and Bute Council, in terms of Section 17 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, have fixed from 22nd April 2025, the following scale as the maximum fares and other charges in connection with the hire of taxis in public places within Argyll and Bute.
Tariff 1 – Hirings from ranks or “flag” between 7am and 10pm
Initial charge (860 yards or part thereof) - £3.80
Subsequent charge (each 176 yards or part thereof) - 25 pence
Tariff 2 - Hirings from ranks or “flag” between 10pm and 7am
Initial charge (860 yards or part thereof) - £4.55
Subsequent charge (each 150 yards or part thereof) - 25 pence
Tariff 2 also applies to hirings from ranks or “flag” between 6pm and 10pm on December 24th; between 6pm and 10pm on December 31st; and between 7am on 2nd January and 7am on 3rd January
Tariff 3 - Hiring from ranks or “flag” between 10pm 24th December and 7am 27th December and 10pm 31st December and 7am 2nd January
Initial Charge (860 yards or part thereof) - £5.31
Subsequent Charge (each 120 yards or part thereof) - 25 pence
Soiling Charge - £100 maximum (with permission to display warning signs indicating that there may be an additional charge for any potential loss of earnings suffered as a consequence)
Waiting Time – 45 pence per minute commencement of journey, charged on a pro rate basis per second
Taxi called by mean of telephone – 40 pence additional charge
Large Mini-bus type vehicle (carrying 5 or more passengers together at their own request)-
a) Where Tariff 1 would apply – charge Tariff 2
b) Where Tariff 2 would apply – charge Tariff 3
c) Where Tariff 3 would apply – surcharge £1.30
Fee by negotiation – for all journeys commencing within but finishing outwith Argyll and Bute, in a place of the above charges, such fares may be charged as prior to the acceptance of the hire, were proposed to the hirer and accepted by him/her
Ferry Fares – The hirer shall be liable for the cost of a return ferry fare for any journey involving a ferry

Fares for Waiting
The Driver is, in addition to the above, entitled to charge for waiting whether in one stoppage or in several stoppages as follows:

Extra Charges
Taxi drivers may add on any charge incurred at any Airport when either dropping off or picking up passengers. Drivers must make passengers aware in advance that extra charges may be added to the fare. A charge equivalent to the initial flagfall on Tariff 1 shall be payable for a taxi booking made by telephone or via App and not cancelled before arrival when the taxi is no longer required. A £25.00 charge shall be payable for a taxi booking made by telephone or via App where the taxi has been booked to uplift passengers from outside the West Dunbartonshire area and the passengers are not at the pick-up point after the pre-arranged time.
Soiling Fee
A maximum fee of £100.00 is chargeable for any soiling which necessitates a taxi being removed from service for cleaning. Soiling in this context includes any soiling by means of food, drink, vomit, urine or excrement.
