The May bank holiday week is traditionally a quiet week for operators in the bus and coach industry. It offers an opportunity to recharge our own batteries before the last academic term of the school year.
From next week the ‘silly season’ commences with school contracts, school trips, airport transfers, wedding hires, private hires and rail replacement services.

Once the school term ends in late July, we begin to plan for September and the commencement of new (to us) school contracts.
We will be seeking 2 more enthusiastic drivers to join our fabulous team. We will be putting out a recruitment post nearer the time, probably August. However, if this is of interest to you, please get in touch with us anytime.
We will be seeking 1 full time driver and 1 school contract part time 16 seat minibus driver (may suit a semi retired person) 25 hours per week guaranteed minimum.
Further details to be provided and discussed at interview.

It has been a hectic day for our buses today…
Andy was with a group on a field trip from Plumpton Racecourse visiting the local area around Sussex.
Richard has been out with a school from Canterbury covering a sports trip to Dartford, and Mel on her usual school contract.
Tonight we have 2 buses out on late night rail replacement duties between Eastbourne and Ashford with Giles and Chris until the early hours.
It’s all hands on deck as we head into our busiest time of the year!

Hi everyone

It’s been a while since we posted. It has been a very busy time for us with many miles covered over the last few weeks.
Chris has been juggling driving duties along with office work and a recent yard move for our larger vehicles to bring in new work for us. We also moved house during this time as well!

The exciting great news for Wealden Minibuses is that we have secured two new school contracts starting from September this year! This will mean more investment in new vehicles to cover the work, as well as the opportunity to attract more staff to come and join our fantastic team.

We have a busy weekend coming up as well..
Today we were covering a job collecting passengers from a cruise ship in Tilbury (pictured).
Tomorrow we have 2 minibuses on a wedding hire in Tunbridge Wells and a minibus going to the the greyhound stadium in Hove (actually). Sunday we will be covering rail replacement duties from the Hastings area.

We are delighted to announce that we will be working with Horam Parish Council by providing our minibuses for this project.

The youth club is an exciting new place for young people to spend a couple of hours. If your children are interested in using the service, please contact the clerk directly for further information and to book seats on the bus.

Strict Maintenance: Legal operators must undergo safety checks every 6 weeks. Illegal "death traps" do not.
Professional Qualifications: "Grandfather rights" on a car licence DO NOT allow someone to drive for hire or reward. Drivers must have a full PCV licence and a Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
🔍 How to Verify an Operator:
Before you book, you can check if a company is legally registered on the official government website. If they aren't on this list, they aren't legal:

✅ What to Check on the Day:
Look for the Blue or green Disc: A legal Operator’s Licence must be displayed in the front window. Check that the name matches the company you booked.
Legal Lettering: Look for the company name and address on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Watch the Tachograph: The unit must be used. If it’s flashing "No Card Inserted," the driver is ignoring legal driving hours.
Don’t be Shy: Ask the driver to see their DQC (Driver Qualification Card).
