RESET
I’m just back from a break in the beautiful hills of and feel physically and mentally refreshed. Obviously time away from the screen is always welcome, but nature gives us more than that. Engaging with nature resets our circadian rhythm (improving sleep and rest), resets our mood by connecting to the present moment, and can even reset our internal electrical charges, which has been shown to improve immune defence, antioxidant levels, mood and pain reduction.
I still have lots to do to reconnect with nature but what a fun and beneficial practice to be involved with! What else do you notice when in ?

Final training send before some Snowdonian trad next week 🤞 So excited!
This photo is a bit cheesy but it reminds me that time in nature, whether climbing, mountaineering or just being, gives me perspective. It helps me to realise the impermanence and unimportance of my worries, and frankly my life, which is so beautifully freeing. A Sanskrit word for mountains, for example, is a-ga, that which does not go.
In the words of Arne Naess, “the smaller we come to feel ourselves compared with the mountain, the nearer we come to participating in its greatness”

A lot of research shows that by reconnecting with nature we can live happier, healthier, kinder and more sustainable lives. I believe it’s how we were meant to live and that the great outdoors has a lot to teach us.
One of the benefits of being outdoors is the perspective it gives us. Only when I’m outdoors and disconnected from the modern world do I realise how amazing and (hopefully) eternal our environment is, and how small we are. It helps to put all of my stresses and worries in my perspective, and realise what really matters. I can’t recommend nature enough for a salve!

Pretty wet day out, but that didn’t stop us being any the less !
