We love our community here in so we were delighted when we received a lovely package in the post today from a budding young entrepreneur who kindly asked if we would give her business a little push on our socials along with a box full of her brand new for the Nearby team to sample!

All home baked and made to order with a distinctive personal touch, With Love ME is a fantastic new startup business based in our own specialising in personalised gifts from treats to t-shirts and all made and produced by hand! 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾

We were absolutely blown away by this young ladies hospitality so we've decided to purchase 50 boxes for you guys to sample yourselves and hopefully give the business a little boost from ourselves.

WELL DONE JENNIFER 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾

A lovely message received on the weekend from one of our customers Jimmy about one of our female drivers Jennifer.

Jimmy had booked a taxi to take him to work at the RVI on Sunday morning and upon Jennifer arriving to take him they continued the journey as normal until our driver spotted an elderly lady walking with the aid of a zimmer frame on Kenton Lane. Bearing in mind this was approximately 6.30am so Jennifer decided to pull over to check the lady was ok.

After stopping and learning the lady was called Colleen and was 89 years of age, Jennifer proceeded to get her into the vehicle to keep warm whilst she rang the police to help safeguard the lady and hopefully return her home.

Jimmy explained that it was nice to see people still doing good deeds and that Jennifer should be recognised as things certainly could have been a lot worse for then lady had she not been spotted!

Well done Jennifer, you're an absolute asset to the company and thank you for going above and beyond in helping out a vulnerable lady in a time of need and thank you to our customer Jimmy for taking the time out to let us know what happened.

WELL DONE GARY 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾

Positive start to the week with a lovely letter sent to one of our drivers Gary after coming to the aid of an elderly customer last week.

After receiving a job to pick up one of our regulars, Gary proceeded to the address to see the male looking a little bruised and confused. After checking the man over Gary had noticed a cut to the man's head and after carefully getting him into the car and driving towards his home he managed to work out that he had been at his son's house alone and had fallen down the stairs!

After pulling over and speaking to the customer's wife Gary suggested he should really be checked over and proceeded to the customer's address to pick-up his wife and then straight to the hospital to be checked over and that's where the lovely letter from the passengers wife comes in thanking Gary for his kindness and a little update about her husband's condition and after an operation on a fracture he is currently recovering at the RVI.

Thank you Ann for taking the time out to write to Gary and a massive well done to Gary for recognising that something wasn't right and suggesting he be checked over, it certainly could have been a lot worse!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU! 🦒

Always nice to receive a lovely appreciation letter from our friends at The Great North Children's Hospital in response to our Christmas appeal where we donated £3000 worth of gifts to the kids who'll be spending the festivities in the wards this year!

Thank you so much for the kind words and a heartfelt thank you to all of our drivers that donated in making such a wonderful gesture.

Here at NEARBY we're so proud to work alongside some fantastic charities who give so much back to the folk of the North East none more so than our continued support of the Alan Shearer Centre , a fantastic multi use facility providing rehabilitation, rest and respite to thousands of local folk with complex disabilities and sensory learning impairments. A worthwhile cause I'm sure you'll all agree and regardless of who you support backed by one of the North East 's greatest players, the legendary number 9

So here's a few words from the man himself along with a few pals, our very own Rob Armstrong and Footballer turned presenter on just how much we raised!
