We are selling our 7.5ton Oakley and thought we'd let our customers and friends see it first as many of you will have experienced her build quality, space and versatility.
She is first and foremost a transport truck, horsebox from new, originally built for stud work. We have owned her since Autumn 2023 and she has been maintained to the highest standards having been on an Operators Licence from day 1 (6 week Maintenance Inspection schedule). the bodywork is also in excellent condition.
Stalled for a maximum of 5, dependent on size, the full height and width partitions can be positioned in various different arrangements to make one or two mare and foal boxes, three small or two large forward-facing stalls across the front and two small or one large herringbone stall in the rear, behind a folding divider partition. The front stalls may be used with chest partitions or opened up, with added grills, to make full length stalls for added security and safety.
The side ramp is towards the front of the horse section with one groom's door at the front and one at the rear. Although there are no external lockers, the rear stalls make a nice tack area if you have horses in the front.
She has a tilt cab and is cut through to the living area with a door to the horse section. The living is compact and basic having just a small bench seat, two cupboards, a luggage rack, lighting, an electric hook-up point and a capacious luton with mattress.
She is easy to drive, with automatic transmission and cruise control plus bluetooth radio. She also has a towbar with 13pin electrics, fans and temperature monitor.
You may not think you need a professional transport truck but the advantages are many and varied:
1) Trucks with full living command a much higher price. If you don't need full living, you get a much younger truck with a more inviting horse space for the same money or less.
2) If you want to be able to safely leave your horse in the truck at a show for a while and be sure he will still be safely ensconced in his stall on your return, transporter partitions are a game-changer. Naughty ponies through to large warmbloods know when they are beaten and will not try to hold you to ransom threatening to get stuck over, under or round these dividers!
3) You can quickly re-arrange partitions to make a loosebox for a long day at a show, for youngstock, for a veterinary emergency or to move non-horsey loads.
4)The interior is designed for regular pressure washing so you can always have a pristine truck
5) Ideally suited to those of you with one or two large horses that really shouldn't or don't fit in a 3.5ton.
