This morning I was on the phones and dispatch like normal โ and a passenger said something towards the end of the call that genuinely made my day:
โEee can I just sayโฆ youโre the best call taker Localโs ever had. Polite, friendly, dead efficient โ nowtโs ever a bother.โ
I laughed and told her, โThatโs because youโve caught the owner on the headset today.โ
She went โOhhh I didnโt realise it was you, Sam!โ and we had a proper little chat.
And it got me thinkingโฆ
This is what makes Localโฆ Local.
Weโre not some faceless company where youโre a booking number and the person in charge is 300 miles away. Most days Iโm still right in the thick of it โ same as the team:
Call taker.
Dispatcher.
Marketing.
Social media.
Finance.
Operations manager.
Business development.
(And ayeโฆ Iโve even been known to jump in a car when weโre under it.)
Not because weโre short staffed.
Because when you build something from scratch in your own community, you care differently. You hear it in the calls, you see it in the bookings, you feel it when things go right โ and when they donโt.
