In 2016 I suddenly found the urge to attempt to break a world record, I am a keen cyclist however I was never built for speed but I have plenty of stamina so when I found the category for longest journey by cycle rickshaw I thought that this would be perfect. Straight away I began to search the internet for a Rickshaw so I could get training as soon as possible, Cycle Rickshaws are quite rare as m

ost have been converted with electric motors and turned into Pedicabs but I managed to find one....in Wales, It had been used as a Cycle Pedicab in Oxford and was also used as a prop in an episode of Inspector Morse! It had a few photos posted online and over a phone conversation with the seller it sounded spot on and the best part was it was going to be delivered which saved me a trip to Wales! The delivery day finally arrived and so did the Rickshaw, exactly how I expected it to be apart from the weight! The Rickshaw is very heavy and on lifting it off the trailer it became clear that it was not going to be fit for my record attempt. As I was not going to be able to ride it for any significant distance we had to decide what to do with it but first it needed to be checked over. The carriage/cab was made of wood and steel with a canvas hood, on further investigation I discovered an auction receipt for the Carriage/Cab dating back to 1952. It appears that the Carriage/Cab was taken off an old Pony&Trap and at a later date someone attached it to a converted Mountain Bike Frame, fitted hydraulic disc brakes which can stop up to 500 kg and an antique bell! It was decided that we would get the Rickshaw up and running again so after a lick of paint and mechanical inspection it was ready to roll! The Rickshaw is available for Wedding Transport, School Proms and advertising. Its totally unique and there is nothing quite like it so if you want to arrive to a Wedding in style, stand out from the crowd at your school prom or get your business/event noticed then please get in touch as we can create a bespoke package to meet your exact requirements.

Evening all, well yet another trip to hospital last weekend and no further forward so I’m off the rickshaw for the foreseeable! The business will continue as I’m not going quietly and will provide lessons to those that wish to hire a rickshaw. Huge thanks to everyone for the support and messages, they are much appreciated. After another trip to the hospital this week followed by yet more surgery it’s safe to say the rickshaw will not be out again this year, well not with me riding it! Further investigation is required and unfortunately with the way things are it’s going to take weeks for tests and then I will have to deal with the results, it won’t be straightforward however, I’m not done yet 💪

Earlier this year I required a bit of surgery which has kept me out of action for a while, just as I was getting better the issue reoccurred and I’ve been back under the knife! Safe to say I won’t be out on the rickshaw anytime soon unless I’m a passenger! We shall continue as rickshaws are always for hire and customers can provide their own riders. Thanks, Ian

Thank you so much to all of you who came to visit me yesterday. I enjoyed seeing so many dachshunds - it was cuteness overload 💕

I will be opening my online shop later today (I had to close it briefly to stock take after yesterday) but snoods are very low in stock - especially in sausage dog size! I will place an order for new fabric this week and get sewing again as soon as I can!

Thank you so much all of you for supporting my small business yesterday. I will post an update on my socials as soon as I have new snoods ready.

Lastly, if anyone has any cute pics of sausages in snoods and you are happy for me to share, then send them my way.

Please take a look at A Bear Named Buttony and the fantastic work they are doing to help support family’s and young children who require surgical intervention for digestive issues. Take a look, have a think and donate if you can. In a world full of huge charities please take the time to have a look at this little setup, they may be small but they make a huge difference.

Buttony is a special bear for children having surgery to create a stoma. Buttony has had similar surgery and we hope will offer comfort and friendship.

Felixstowe School would like to invite local residents affected by the parking restrictions in place on Sunday 8th September due to the Tour of Britain cycling event, to use our car park which will be available from 9am until 6pm.
