🚕 BOOKED DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN COVERED.
We all like convenience.
A flashy app, a couple of taps on your phone, and sometimes a price that might be a few pounds cheaper.
But today we had a perfect example of why the cheapest price isn’t always the best value.
A customer had booked an airport journey with a large app-based company because they were £7.50 cheaper than us.
The journey was to Stansted Airport.
The vehicle didn’t turn up.
The customer was left trying to find out what was happening, with nobody readily available to speak to, while the clock was ticking and a flight deadline was getting closer.
They then called us in a panic.
Thankfully, we were able to help and have dispatched one of our vehicles to Stansted to get them there.
And this is exactly the point we keep making.
With many app-based services, drivers are self-employed and can choose when they work and which jobs they accept.
So while an app may accept your booking, that doesn’t always mean a driver is actually committed to doing it.
You can be left staring at messages such as:
“Searching for a driver…”
“We’re matching your journey with a driver…”
And when you’ve got a flight to catch, every one of those minutes matters.
At JJ’s Private Hire, when we accept a booking, we take responsibility for that journey.
We plan the work.
We allocate our vehicles and drivers.
We confirm the booking.
And we do everything we can to be where we said we’d be, when we said we’d be there.
Yes, sometimes you may find an app that is a few pounds cheaper.
But today, £7.50 was the difference between having a cheap booking on a screen and actually having a vehicle turn up.
For airport transfers especially, reliability and peace of mind are worth far more than saving a few pounds.

Because when you’ve got a flight to catch, “we’re trying to find you a driver” isn’t the same as having one booked.
