Horse Transport - Terms & Conditions

All driven horse transport bookings are taken on the understanding that the following conditions will apply in full in all circumstances. They shall apply to the equine services we, the Company (Anderson Equine Transport), supply to you the Client. Bookings
Cost of Transport quoted is based on the information given by the customer at the time of Quoting/Booki

ng. If that information proves incorrect or changed & results in any additional journey time, this may result in extra charges. Any booking made for an under 18 must have a parent or guardian with them at all times. The Client warrants that each equine in the consignment has been properly described when booking transport and does load & travel without concern. The Client will be as honest as possible about the horse’s previous experiences good & bad (especially) and if the transporter arrives and feels the need to refuse to transport a horse(s), has the right to do so and the pre-agreed cost for transport will be paid for in full by the Client. A time frame of Thirty (30) minutes to load your horse is included Free of Charge in the cost of transport. Whilst every appropriate effort will be made in the loading of the horse(s), should your horse(s) take longer to load, an additional fee of £25 per half an hour will be charged. Whilst every effort will always be made, in the rare event of a horse being incapable of being loaded, the full cost agreed for transport plus waiting time will be charged and paid for in full by the Client. While every effort is made to make every journey safe & comfortable for every horse, Anderson Equine Transport will be transporting the Client’s horse(s) at the Client’s own risk. These conditions take into account the Client’s obligation to take out the appropriate insurance for their horse. We strongly recommend that the insurance is in place at all times to cover the loss or injury of any horse(s) which are being transported on the Client’s behalf. Anderson Equine Transport does not take responsibility for any injury/death to the Client’s horse (unless the Company is deemed negligent). The Client is personally liable for their horse during transport. Transport Addresses
The Client is responsible to provide the Company with the full name, address & contact number of the owner of the horse/pony, the address, contact name & number of collection point and final destination for offloading, not less than 24 hours before the transport collection. Either the Client or someone nominated by the Client is required to be present whilst the horse is being loaded/unloaded, unless agreed at time of booking. We are unable to confirm bookings unless customers provide all the required details of the journey & will not be able to undertake a route until a booking is confirmed. Dates & times will be agreed for collection and where possible, drop-off/delivery. These are however subject to change depending on traffic etc. and we won’t be held responsible for any late arrival. If we are collecting a horse from a seller (someone on your behalf), please ensure they are aware of the collection time, any delay on them preparing your horse for travel will be subject to our waiting charge policy. Liability is not accepted for loss of entry fees, stud fees or any other related expenses in the event of delayed or cancelled journeys for any reason. Payment
A deposit of 25% (of the total cost for transport) is required by the Company in order to secure the Client’s booking & requested date to travel. By making payment to the Company, the Client fully understands and accepts the Terms and Conditions. All bookings taken are on a first come first served basis. All deposits taken are refundable with the exception of when cancellation is made within 7 days of the date of transport. Full payment is to be made prior to the date of transport unless the Company & the Client has agreed an alternative arrangement. Unfortunately, until the deposit is received, we cannot guarantee your booking. Cancellations
If the Client wishes to cancel the transportation of their horse(s) and end the agreement between the Company and Client at any point; they reserve the right to do so. If the Client ends the agreement within 7 days of the date of transport, they will be subject to a cancellation fee of 25% of the total cost of transport. The deposit made by the Client will be retained by the Company as payment for the cancellation fee. In the event of no deposit being made by the Client, the Client will be invoiced for the cancellation fee. If the Client ends the agreement within 24 hours prior to, or on the date of transport they will be subject to full payment of the total cost of transport. Anderson Equine Transport will endeavour to only end the agreement when absolutely necessary or in an emergency. In this event the Client will be entitled to a full refund of any payment made. Change of Transportation Date
If you need to move your booking, we require a minimum of 7 working days’ notice. Condition to Travel
All horses & ponies must be fit to travel. It is the horse owner’s responsibility to ensure that their horse or pony is allowed to travel & be fit for travel. If the horse(s)/pony is, in the opinion of the transport driver, incapable of, or unfit for, travel, we reserve the right to refuse to transport the equine(s) and charge an aborted collection fee to cover any costs incurred by the transport company as part of either a dedicated journey for otherwise. It is the Client’s responsibly to have the horse in correct travel gear for the journey. We cannot guarantee having suitable equipment onboard. If you are unable to provide a hay net for your horse, please let us know in advance so we can. Passports
All horses/ponies MUST have their passports with them during travel. This is a Legal Requirement under the Horse Passports (England) Regulation 2004. Please ensure your horse(s) have a passport. The original document must be given to the transport driver prior to the journey commencing. We cannot transport your horse/pony if it does not have its passport with it and a fee to cover costs already incurred by us on route to collecting your horse(s) will be charged if the Passport is not available or presented. Only exception is for emergency transport for Vet care. Damages
The Client is entirely liable to cover the cost of repairs if our box is damaged by the horse(s) during loading, transport or unloading. The Client has the opportunity to inspect the transport lorry for any existing damage before the horse’s journey begins & agree any damage, as arguments will not be entered into later. Any damage will be repaired by a company chosen by the Company as the transport lorry must meet manufacturer’s specification. General wear and tear to the horsebox is accepted & expected but any rips, tears, deep kick marks into rubber floor matting or wall coverings will be charged back to owner. We advise you to insure your horse for transportation. The driver takes all reasonable precautions however, in the event of an accident please note that the Client is personally liable for their horse(s) in the event of injury or damage sustained to or by your horse(s). Anderson Equine Transport reserve the right to record and photograph the condition of the horse/pony before transport commences and during and after transport as necessary. Care, custody and control insurance is provided by Anderson Equine Transport up to a limit of £10,000. Entering into a booking deems acceptance of this level of cover. The Client is responsible for ensuring that their horse/pony is properly insured to participate in any activities you intend to take part in before and after you arrive at your destination (including public liability for damage to persons/property caused by your horse). We will not be responsible for the insurance of any such activities or liable for any damages caused as a result. Vehicle Access
Please ensure when booking that consideration is given to suitable access for a 3.5 tonne lorry with a left-hand side (UK passenger side) opening access ramp. If we feel that a road is unsuitable or that there is insufficient room to manoeuvre safely & without causing damage to our lorry then we reserve the right to request an alternative loading area or reserve the right to abort the collection and charge accordingly. Please note we do not allow passengers to travel in the horse or grooms area of the horsebox under any circumstances but horses can be viewed from the cab via CCTV at all times and clients are more than welcome to travel in the cab of the vehicle (subject to COVID conditions/regulations), but should be aware they do entirely at their own risk. Some tack and other associated equipment can be transported along with your horse/pony but any loss or damage to these or client’s personal items is at the client’s risk. Inclement Weather
In the interest of your horse’s safety and that of our driver(s), when we consider the weather is unsuitable for horse transport, our lorry does not go out in snowy/icy/windy/stormy or hot conditions. In any case of sever or extreme weather your booking will be transferred to another date without charge and the Client will be advised. Veterinary Treatment
Every safety precaution will be thoroughly checked & undertaken before each journey to ensure a safe, relaxed & comfortable journey. In the event that the Client’s horse(s) becomes too unsettled to continue or in the event that the Client’s horse(s) is taken ill; the Company reserves the right to contact the nearest Veterinarian available, for treatment or sedation if this is deemed necessary, to continue with the journey safely & to maintain the welfare of the Client’s horse(s). The Client will be deemed liable for any Veterinary expenses & any delays/increase in transport mileage as a result. COVID Cancellation Policy
In the event of changes to COVID restrictions/lockdown/tier system that may affect your booking, your deposit will be moved to a new date where these restrictions have been lifted. The Company will not be liable for any losses as a result. By accepting a quote from Anderson Equine Transport and confirming a booking the Client agrees to the Terms and Conditions outlined above.

Dear all,

I’ve decided that after 7 good years I have reached the end of the road with Anderson Equine Transport and to me I’m finishing on a high but sorry to not be able to be there for friends & clients and offer this from now on.

With other transporters giving it a go, I wanted to put this post up primarily so that those with a horse in need, in time of colic or other emergency, don’t waste valuable or potentially live saving time trying to call me first to help, not knowing.

I have been able to help out in some difficult situations and many happy ones, and have been lucky to have carried many, in fact everything from pets & ponies, babies & youngsters, Stallions & Shetlands 😉, top dressage & world class event horses and even a winning 🏇🏻 or two; some sweet, some naughty, some challenging and everyday a different day but all delivered with pleasure and safe and sound for their owners, riders & trainers.

I’ll still be around but my fantastic Bloomfields 3.5t Professional lorry is off to be sold at Central England Horseboxes. I will keep my DEFRA/APHA Animal Transporter Authorisation and we'll see what my next challenge is.

In the meantime, all I can say is Thank You for your support 👍🏼 George
