About Us

My name is Sarah and I am a driver with Independence Cars. I have been driving for 25 years and hold a clean driving licence. I live in Bury St Edmunds with my husband and two daughters, one of which is about to start driving herself. My background profession is teaching and my hobbies include being a Brown Owl within Girlguiding, so it is in my nature to have a caring attitude upon which I try to ‘do my best, to think about others and do a good turn every day’. I believe that going the extra mile to support and care about peoples independence can happen from the 5 year olds that I teach to the 95 year olds that I meet, is so valuably important to maintain, that I find it raises peoples self-esteem which enables them to feel great about themselves and so makes for a better life for all. My Name is Simon and I am the director, & a driver of, Independence cars. I have been driving for over 25 years and have been driving fire engines as part of my main job as a firefighter for the last 15 years. I am therefore, naturally, a careful and considerate driver with a high awareness for safety for those that I drive for and other road users. I have good local knowledge due to my ‘day job’ and a high level of first aid knowledge. Serving the community by driving people’s independence further is something that I do in my day job and which I can offer in this role as well.
