Your ATA carnet will go digital from the 1st June 2026. Thing to know are;

📆 1st June any carnets issued by ourselves will automatically go digital for all movements between GB, EU and Switzerland.

🛃 You will still need to attend a border control for a digital stamp by the respective governing authorities (eg, Border Force).

🧑‍⚕️This does not affect a horse’s health status, health papers and inspections are still required.

👨‍💻You do not need download any app. Bramhams remains the carnet holder, we simply provide you with QR codes to scan at the Border Controls. We will pre-fill the digital carnet with intended movements.

🖨️The introduction of the digital carnet is a phased in approach. Technical issues are to be expected and a large proportion of the Borders Controls have to date received low levels of training. Therefore we will continue for at least the next 6-12mths provide printed carnets for travel which can be used as fall back. The transition period maybe extended but is expected to be fully digitalised for Worldwide travel by June 2028.

💷The cost of carnets remains the same and those with existing valid carnets from ourselves will automatically get converted to digital on 18th May ahead of the commence date. Those exporting before 1st June will need return via a paper carnet.

💰Those that use our Bramhams Bond to guarantee against customs debts will be able to continue to do so.

People are rightly frustrated by the new rules for pets travelling between Great Britain and Europe, following the closure of the EU pet passport scheme. At a time when closer relations are being promised, this move feels like a step backwards.

Pets are part of the family—well cared for, healthy, and often travelling with regular visitors who contribute significantly to the European economy. Instead, owners now face costly and time-consuming health certification processes that add unnecessary stress to travel.

As regular travellers ourselves, we understand and share your anger😡

📌 Important for travellers from Ireland 🇮🇪 transiting through the UK:

* Ensure your EU pet passport matches the name on your Irish (including Northern Irish) passport
* Carry proof of transit
* If you leave Ireland and re-enter the EU within 10 days, you remain exempt from additional certification

We are actively supporting clients affected by these changes. The process itself may only take a vet 10–15 minutes, but costs can reach up to £250—placing a significant burden on pet owners. It’s a pure racket.

⚠️ Huge disruption on the Dublin-Holyhead routes once again due to the loading ramp in Holyhead. This is affecting a large number of the Cheltenham bound horses currently unable to dock into Holyhead and stuck out at Sea. ⚠️

🐎 We are where possible diverting clients to the Rosslare-Pembroke route and organising stabling for people in mid transit. 🚛

⛔️ There is currently no update on re-opening time. Holyhead has a congestion warning ⛔️

The French Farmers 🚜 have blockaded the Spanish Borders, so getting back is proving…….(well currently we are stuck at a remote border next to a ski resort) ⛷️

🚨Major Disruption expected over the next few days sailing on the Dublin to Holyhead Route 🚨

Earlier this morning the Stena Estrid was involved in an incident at Holyhead. The Port is currently out of action. ⛴️

Compounded over the next few days with significant snow in North Wales the advise is only travel if absolutely necessary and be aware ferries are not expected to sail on scedule for the foreseeable. ⛄️

This is the 4th such incident at Holyhead in the past 14ths. Major disruption to supply chains has become the norm. Hopefully during the down time the Captains can go back to Captaining School 🏫
