ONLY-FULLY VACCINATED TRAVELLERS FROM THE UK ALLOWED INTO SPAIN-FROM DECEMBER 1ST

Spain has decided to tighten border controls for travellers from several African countries, due to the emergence of the omicron variant of the coronavirus, who must present a negative test even if they are fully vaccinated, and those from the UK (excluding Spanish residents), who will only be able to enter the country if they have proof of full vaccination from December 1st.

This morning (Saturday), two general provisions were published in the BOE, one from the Ministry of Health and the other from the Ministry del Interior, which limits the requirements for people to be able to enter Spain (including the Canary Islands) from the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini / Swaziland, Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

On the one hand, those coming from high-risk countries must provide a Sars-CoV-2 diagnostic test with a negative result as of this Saturday, carried out no later than 72 hours before arrival, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or have passed the disease or not

This is stated in the general provision of the order of the General Directorate of Public Health, saying that the new omicron variant detected in South Africa, Belgium, and now the UK, presents “numerous mutations related to a possible increase in transmissibility and a decrease in the effectiveness of antibodies".

It states that: “This new situation highlights the need for an agile mechanism that allows the adoption of additional health control measures for people from high-risk countries due to a significant worsening of their epidemiological situation, or in those countries where new variants of particular concern have been detected."

Citizens of third countries are subject to a temporary restriction of non-essential travel throughout the EU, which in Spain is regulated by an order from the Ministry of the Interior that was also published this morning.

According to the BOE, from Wednesday 1st December, Spain will only allow the entry of people from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland with a vaccination certificate and not with negative diagnostic tests for covid or having overcome the disease, which was accepted up to now, until the end of the year, midnight on New Year's Eve.

This applies to anyone aged 12 or over, under 12's are exempt, so if you have young children and you are vaccinated, you are not affected. However, the age is specified as 12 because 12-19-year-olds in Spain can be vaccinated, but this is not the case in the UK as 12-15-year-olds can't, so if you have children in this age category you will not be able to bring them into Spain, including the Canary Islands.

From that date, entry may be denied to travellers from these countries who cannot show a vaccination certificate (NHS for travellers from the UK) that the Ministry of Health recognizes for entry.

Countries not affected at the moment:
The list of third countries that are not affected by these restrictions is reduced to Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Peru, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, and China, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao and Taiwan regions.

**Important information about travel changes**

If you’re due to travel abroad or are returning home to the UK over the next few weeks, please be aware that are some immediate changes to travel advice. We’re currently contacting all of our customers due to travel in the coming weeks to make sure you’re up-to-speed with the latest guidance.

All vaccinated travellers must take a PCR test on or before Day 2 of their return to the UK instead of a Lateral Flow Test. You’ll be asked to isolate until your negative result is returned.

You can test at any point from your arrival up until Day 2 and you can choose to test at the airport on arrival, another private test centre or with a pre-purchased home-testing kit.

In England, Northern Ireland and Wales, children aged 5 will follow the same testing requirements as vaccinated travellers. In Scotland, children aged 11 and over will follow the same testing requirements as vaccinated travellers.
The advice for unvaccinated travellers remains the same.

We are still open and taking bookings for your transfers to and from any Airport, book over the phone 01253 346609 or online at www.airporttaxis-blackpool.co.uk

Stay safe everyone

💥Information for jet 2 passengers 💥

Due to the UK Government now requiring all passengers to complete a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) within 48 hours of returning to the UK, Jet2holidays have made an important change to your customers check in process.

Prior to this change passengers were being advised to go to the airport check-in desks to enable us to collect the unique PLF reference number. Only then would the boarding pass be issued. If your customer had already completed online check-in prior to this, a dummy boarding pass will have been issued and they were still required to go to the check in desk to retrieve their official boarding pass.

From today we will implement changes to our check-in process for holidays departing from Wednesday 29th September 2021. These changes will only be in place for flights departing from Palma and Paphos with more destinations to be added soon. Your customers will now be issued their outbound boarding pass only when completing the online check-in via Manage My Booking. Upon completing the required PLF (within 48 hours of their return journey), your customer will then need to log in to the Jet2holidays App or Manage My Booking (Trade Customer version) to provide us with the unique reference. Only when this is completed will the inbound boarding pass be issued. If your customer doesn’t have access to the Jet2holidays App or Manage My Booking, this process will still need to be completed at the airport check-in desk.

Thank you for your continued support

‼‼‼TRAVEL UPDATE ALERT ‼‼‼
Turkey, the Maldives and Egypt are the of eight countries to have been removed from the red list from next Wednesday.
Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh and Kenya are the others.
And from 4 October, there will be a new ‘simplified’ approach, said Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, with a single red list and ‘simplified measures for the rest of the world’.
Also, from 4 October, fully vaccinated travellers won’t need to take a pre-return COVID test to travel to England from green and amber-list destinations, Mr Shapps announced this afternoon.
From later in October, the PCR day 2 test will be replaced by a cheaper later flow test.
However, some in the travel industry will be disappointed as there had been speculation in the national press in the run up to today’s announcement that far more countries would be removed from the red list, which has 62 destinations in total. In particular, there will be frustration that South Africa and Thailand remain red.
Tour operators must also wait to see if the Foreign Office removes its advice against non-essential travel to the eight destinations being removed from the red list before relaunching programmes.
There has also been frustration that Mr Shapps, who announced the changes on Twitter – as usual -didn’t specify when in October the day 2 PCR test would be ditched for fully vaccinated travellers and replaced with a lateral flow.
The Department for Transport has since clarified that it aims to replace day 2 PCR tests with lateral flow tests in time for when families return from their October half-term holidays.
“Anyone testing positive will need to isolate and take a confirmatory PCR test, at no additional cost to the traveller, which would be genomically sequenced to help identify new variants,” it added.
