For Alcohol Awareness week we want to bring awareness to the issues with drink driving and how one person’s poor choice can destroy so many lives including their own. In July of 2021, a 60-year-old woman was tragically killed by a drunk driver whilst cycling in Walsall. The lady whose life was taken, was a loved one, going about her day, maybe with plans for the future that she would never get to fulfil. An estimated 7,800 people were killed or injured in drink driving accidents in the UK in 2019. Our aim is not to shame those who suffer with alcohol abuse; however, no one should become a victim of someone else’s personal struggles, the second-hand effects are often devastating and lifelong. We want to educate and share with you how and where you can seek support for yourselves or others who need it. We need to be more mindful and honest enough with ourselves and others, recognise when we need support and advice, there’s no shame in admitting when we need help. Please drive safely.
