I’m really good at being hyper focused on learning new skills and becoming the best I can be at something.

One minute it’s coffee connoisseur. ☕️
The next it’s go karting. 🏎️
Once learnt to play the guitar - badly.
I think it all started with the unicycle (see video 👇🏼)

The list goes on…

Then after 10 years as a taxi driver.
I decided to start an airport transfer business. 🚕
I’ve since spent every waking hour:
- Driving people to the airport
- Building systems for bookings and tracking payments
- Finding efficiencies and chasing down leads.
- Learning social media
And the rest…

So what’s next?

Simple. Be the best.

When we moved into our new house I had a go on the old one wheel to see if I still had it….
I was a little rusty.

5 things I’ve learned from the airport transfer business 👇🏼

1. Customer loyalty is massive.
You spend enough time with people that they stop becoming “customers” and become regulars.
2. Most “competition” actually help each other.
A lot of smaller operators work together behind the scenes to keep customers moving.
3. Social media is ridiculously powerful.
Even simple local videos can put your business in front of thousands of people for free.
4. The admin never stops 😂
People see the airport runs… not the late-night messages, bookings, receipts and diary juggling behind them.
5. Word of mouth spreads FAST.
One happy customer can easily turn into 5 more bookings.

Biggest lesson so far?

Airport transfers isn’t really a taxi business…

It’s a reputation business. 🚕✈️

⭐️ Customer loyalty is massive.

You spend 30-40 minutes with people at the start or end of their holiday.

You chat. You build relationships. You become the number they save for next time.

Small airport transfer firms probably get a level of loyalty most businesses would dream of.

⭐️ The “competition” often helps each other.

This surprised me a lot.

I’ve found most smaller operators are actually supportive.

I currently work alongside 3 other operators and we regularly help each other out with jobs and availability.

At the end of the day, customers just want a reliable service.

⭐️ Social media is ridiculously powerful.

I used to think you needed viral videos and thousands of followers.

Reality is… even an average local video can get seen by 1000+ people nearby.

That’s a lot of local eyes on your business for free.

⭐️ The admin never stops.

People see the airport runs.

They don’t see:
• the bookings
• the accounting
• the messages
• the diary management
• the receipts

The amount of times I’m about to get an early night before a 3am airport run…

Then the message comes through:

“Any availability for Manchester Airport next Thursday?”

And suddenly I’m wide awake sorting bookings 😂

⭐️ Word of mouth spreads FAST.

One good experience can turn into:
• a family booking
• a neighbour booking
• a work colleague booking
• next year’s holiday booking

Most growth in this business seems to come from doing a good job consistently and letting people talk.
