WIN an exclusive Burra Bear!

Burra Bears are beautiful, unique, hand-crafted teddy bears, made by talented maker Wendy Inkster in Burra, Shetland.

Hakon oโ€™ Holmsgarth is one such Burra Bear (and the star of our โ€˜Week of discoveryโ€™ video) and NorthLink Ferries are offering you the chance to win him!

Hakon decided to hibernate in the back of one of the storage cupboards at the NorthLink Ferries Holmsgarth terminal! He has woken up very hungry and is in the mood for a lovely picnic - can you tell us what you think Hakonโ€™s favourite food is?

Weโ€™ll choose our favourite answer, and the winner will be Hakonโ€™s new owner!

We had 17-year-old Connor MacGruer and his Dad from Thurso travelling with us on Sunday. Connor is taking on the 10k a day for 100 days challenge raising money for Brain Tumour Research in Memory of his Granny, who sadly died from an aggressive brain tumour last year.

They decided as it was day 80, he would sail over and do the run round Stromness with his Dad joining him. We organised a Bridge Visit for Connor with Master Gary Watt.

Connor has raised just over ยฃ2000 so far.

We would like to wish him all the best with his fundraising efforts. If you would like to contribute donations can be made here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/conor-macgruer-1

Shetland Heart Screening began with the loss of John Pirie (PJ) from Gulberwick, who sadly died following a Cardiac Arrest in December 2017, aged just 29. Folk came together in Johnโ€™s name, raising money to provide heart screening events in the hopes that nobody in Shetland has to lose a loved one again.

This yearโ€™s free heart screening event took place at the weekend and it was once again a hugely successful event reaching a huge milestone of screening with the 1000th person screened! A huge well done to everyone involved โค

Shetland Heart Screening continue with their fundraising efforts to enable them to book future screenings. Follow their page for more information.

Duncan Swainston, a local Airtask pilot flying the inter island service from Tingwall captured this image recently as he was bringing one of the Shetland aeroplanes back from maintenance. Normally they would fly to Tingwall but it was closed so he landed at Sumburgh.

This photo was taken as he was approaching the โ€˜sooth moothโ€™ of Lerwick harbour.
