Not everyone enjoys driving on busy motorways or negotiating unfamiliar airport approach roads — particularly after dark, in poor weather, or for an early-morning departure. And with many flights arriving late in the evening or leaving first thing in the morning, driving yourself isn’t always the most appealing part of the journey.

There’s something rather special about eating out in the Périgord as autumn arrives.

The evenings draw in, the countryside changes colour and restaurant menus start to turn towards the richer, comforting flavours of the season. Good food, a bottle of w**e on the table, perhaps a digestif afterwards… and absolutely no need to hurry home.
