Last week, the Guretruck sales team came together in Porto to share experiences, exchange insights from our different markets, and align on our priorities and goals for the months ahead.

📢 SPAIN: DeCA Mandatory
What changes on 5 October 2026?
From 5 October 2026, the Electronic Administrative Control Document (DeCA) will be mandatory in digital format for domestic and cabotage road transport of goods and passengers in Spain, including cabotage operations carried out by international carriers.

🚛 🚢 New requirements for drivers on ferry routes between Great Britain and Ireland
From 28 September 2026, drivers travelling on certain ferry routes between Great Britain and Ireland will be required to present a valid passport in order to board.
A driving licence or other form of photographic ID will no longer be sufficient. The measure will affect several connections operated by Irish Ferries and Stena Line.
For transport companies, it will be essential to check drivers’ documentation before assigning them to a route that includes a ferry crossing. Failure to carry a valid passport may prevent the driver and vehicle from boarding, causing delays and disruptions to transport planning.

🚛 Italy refunds part of motorway tolls for delays caused by scheduled roadworks

Since 1 June 2026, Italy has introduced a system that allows transport companies to claim a partial refund of motorway tolls when they experience delays caused by scheduled roadworks on certain motorways.

Which motorways are included?
🔹 Autostrade per l'Italia
🔹 Brenner Motorway (A22)

When can a refund be claimed?
The refund only applies when the delay is the result of:
✅ Scheduled maintenance works.
✅ Lane closures announced in advance.

There will be no refund when the delay is due to:
❌ Accidents.
❌ Emergency works.
❌ Demostrations or protests.
❌ Exceptional traffic (seasonal traffic peaks, holiday periods, etc.).
❌ Adverse weather conditions.
❌ Queues at toll stations.
