UPGRADING THE UNITED STATES
As part of the ambitious attempts to strengthen the national grid of the US gulf coast states and to retain independancy against the annual fear of power losses due to tropical depressions, thunderstorms and hurricanes multiple substations all along the southern coast-line up to 150-200 miles to the hinterland are currently under er****on.
In Sulphur, LA, one of said substations made an important step towards completion with taking delivery of 3 x 400 MVA transformers each weighing some 150 mt being delivered straight out of factory from northern Europe. TRITON MARINE - Transport Risk Consultants GmbH attended as MWS on behalf of cargo underwriters in order to ensure safe and on-time delivery.
With the help of all parties involved we managed to cut down the estimated delivery time from 13 days to only 7 days. These days though were filled with lots of activity (discharging the delivering ocean going vessel, load and securing onboard flat-top barge, roll-off with modular trailer, onward carriage and site installation with gantry, skidding and jacking ops). A very special thanks to BARNHART Crane and Rigging who did not claim extra work hours and extra efforts to ensure safe & sound delivery of these transformers.
What was left behind, was a happy client and a happy final customer. No cargo damage, estimated completion time well undergone, what else can you ask for?
