Senior Accounting Technician
Responsibilities
An Accounting & HR Technician required to assist with management accounting for our associated group of companies in St. David’s, NL. This opportunity will present the successful candidate with exposure to all areas of accounting with an emphasis on payroll and human resources. The role involves accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory management, payroll administration, employee relations, and occupational health and safety.We are seeking a person who understands the analytical and detailed nature of accounting and is extremely organized, has a strong attention to detail, and loves to learn. The successful candidate will join a small team focused on accounting and administrative support with an emphasis on working to continually improve the processes and services provided to our employees and our business units. Your primary responsibilities include the following:
Job Duties
• Working with the Controller in various aspects of monthly reporting, including management reporting and account reconciliations
• Manage accounts receivables, accounts payables, and prepare bank reconciliations
• Prepare and file HST, source deductions, WCB, HAPSET and other information returns as required
• Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations and guidelines.
• Collect, compile,and process payroll data within established deadlines
• Manage and maintain comprehensive payroll records.
• Maintain knowledge of payroll and benefit practices
• Oversight of employee HR files, worker’s compensation, record maintenance, and OH&S files
• Support OHS Committee with internal and external audits and reviews. Follow up on outstanding issues and/or corrective actions with the applicable managers
• Assist with various accounting projects and initiatives
Job Requirements
• Diploma or Certificate in Business Administrative program.
• Three years of related experience is required, preference will be given to those candidates with similar experience in an accounting and human resources environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated superior time management and prioritization skills
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and work ethic
