Fall brings a change to the road, shorter days, more time driving in low light and plenty of wet pavement.

For professional drivers, those changing conditions are a reminder that seeing and being seen matters.

Give yourself extra time to react, increase your following distance and adjust your speed for the road conditions. Keep your lights and mirrors clean, watch for standing water and be prepared for reduced visibility when rain and darkness come together.

And remember, it’s not just about getting the load there. It’s about getting there safely.

At Skelton, every haul matters and safety is part of every mile.

Thanksgiving is a good time to slow down and appreciate the people who make a difference in our lives.

At Skelton, we’re grateful for the people who keep us moving, our drivers, our technicians, our office teams, our customers and everyone who plays a part in what we do every day.

We know that for many in our industry, the road doesn’t stop for a holiday. So whether you’re sitting around the table with family, spending the day with friends, or putting in the miles, we hope you find a little time to enjoy the people and moments that matter most.

From our Skelton family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving. 🧡

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to keep our communities, businesses and healthcare systems moving.

It happens in the early mornings, the late nights, the long stretches of highway and the miles spent away from home.

Truck drivers carry more than freight. They carry the responsibility of getting what people need where it needs to go, often without anyone giving much thought to the person behind the wheel.

So today, we’re taking a moment to say thank you.
Thank you for the miles.
Thank you for the long days.
Thank you for the time away from the people you love.
Thank you for showing up, trip after trip, and getting the job done.

To every trucker out there: we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re grateful for what you do.

From everyone at Skelton, thank you. 🧡

There’s a side of trucking that doesn’t always get talked about.

The long stretches of highway. The days away from home. The pressure to keep moving. The early mornings, late nights and hours spent alone with your thoughts.

For many drivers, asking for help can feel harder than carrying the w eight yourself. But mental health matters just as much as physical health.

Checking in with a fellow driver. Calling home. Talking to someone when things aren't right. Taking the time to step away when you need to.

These things aren't signs of weakness. They’re part of taking care of yourself.

At Skelton, we’re proud of the people behind the wheel, not just for the miles they drive, but for everything they carry along the way.

October is a reminder that breast cancer affects more than the person receiving a diagnosis. It affects families, friends, coworkers and entire communities.

It’s a month to raise awareness, support research and remember the people whose lives have been changed by breast cancer.

At Skelton, we’re proud to support the CURE Foundation and the work they do to help advance breast cancer research and care across Canada.

Supporting causes that make a difference in the lives of Canadians is something we believe in and this is one that matters to our Skelton family.

This October, we stand together in support of everyone affected by breast cancer.

Long before women were pilots, truck drivers, mechanics, engineers and leaders in transportation, there were women willing to step into industries where they weren’t always expected to be.

They challenged assumptions, opened doors and proved that ability has never been limited by gender.

They didn’t just make history. They made it possible for the women who came after them.

Today, women continue to bring their skill, determination and perspective to every part of transportation, including right here at Skelton.

This month, we recognize the women who paved the way, the women carrying that work forward, and the women who will help shape where our industry goes next.

Because every generation has the opportunity to leave the road a little wider for the next.

You can drive a long way on the road, but you never have to go far for a good taco.

Whether you're home for the day or making a stop along the way, National Taco Day is a pretty good excuse to add a little flavour to the trip.

So here's a simple Trucker-Friendly Taco Recipe that doesn't require a full kitchen, just a few ingredients, a microwave or skillet, and a hungry driver.

EASY TRUCKER TACOS

You’ll need:

• 1lb lean ground beef or 1 chicken breast, sliced into small pieces

• Small whole-wheat tortillas

• ½ bell pepper, sliced

• ¼ small onion, sliced

• Shredded lettuce

• Diced tomato

• ¼ avocado

• 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt

• Lime juice

• ½ tsp chili powder

• ½ tsp cumin

• Salt & pepper

Make them:

Season the chicken with chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper.

Cook the chicken in a skillet until cooked through.

Add the peppers and onion and cook until slightly softened.

Warm your tortillas.

Fill with chicken and vegetables, then add lettuce, tomato and avocado.

Mix the Greek yogurt with a squeeze of lime for a quick, healthier taco topping.

Fresh, filling and easy to make wherever the road takes you.

Happy National Taco Day from Skelton! 🌮

October has a way of changing the view from the cab.

The days get shorter, the colours come out and the road takes on a different kind of character.

For our drivers, every season brings a new stretch of highway, a new horizon and plenty of miles between where you start and where you’re headed.

This is the kind of view that reminds you to take a second and appreciate the road along the way.

October looks pretty good in Skelton orange. 🧡
