June is recognized across Canada as Commercial Vehicle Safety Awareness Month, an important reminder that safety on our highways starts long before the wheels begin turning.
From proactive maintenance to responsible driving habits, every detail matters when it comes to keeping drivers, fleets, and the motoring public safe. Here are a few important reminders for drivers and carriers during inspection season and beyond:

1 - Complete thorough pre-trip inspections
Check all lights, tires, brakes, fluid levels, and ensure cargo is properly secured before every trip. Preventative checks help avoid costly downtime and improve highway safety.
2 - Stay compliant and organized
Keep logbooks updated, permits accessible, and review carrier safety profiles regularly to ensure everything is current and inspection-ready.
3 - Prioritize driver wellness
Fatigue management is critical. Taking proper rest breaks, minimizing distractions, and staying alert behind the wheel helps everyone get home safely.
4 - Adjust for changing conditions
Weather and road conditions can change quickly. Slowing down during rain, fog, or heavy traffic helps maintain control and reduce risk.
At Skelton Truck Lines, safety is more than a requirement; it’s a responsibility we carry every mile.

Clear roads, blue skies, and a fresh season ahead.
As the days get longer and the weather turns, it’s a great reminder of why we love what we do, moving forward, mile by mile, with a view that never gets old.
Here’s to a strong month ahead, safer drives, and brighter days on the road.

We often share photos captured by our drivers as they travel across the continent, offering a glimpse into places many of us may never see.

But this time, Slava reminds us that sometimes the best views are closer to home. This great shot from beautiful Port Perry, just 30 minutes from our main terminal, is proof that you don’t have to go far to find something worth capturing.
Thanks Slava for the great shot!

At Skelton, family has always been at the heart of everything we do.
While the industry, the roads, and the company itself have evolved over the years, one thing has never changed: Skelton is, and always will be, built on family, dedication, and the people who make this company what it is every single day.
This month, we are proud to celebrate some incredible milestone anniversaries with members of both the Skelton family and the extended Skelton family, with whom we are so fortunate to work.
Congratulations to Andy Skelton, President of Skelton, on 20 years, Cody Skelton, Director of Operations, on 15 years, Steve Skelton, Operations Manager, on 15 years, Team Drivers, Teresa and Greg on 10 years, and Clayton, Company Driver, on 5 years.
Whether behind the wheel, in the office, in operations, or leading the company forward, every person here plays an important role in keeping Skelton moving.
Thank you all for your years of dedication, your teamwork, and for continuing to make Skelton feel like family.

Behind every delivery is a purpose and at Skelton Truck Lines, that purpose often means transporting life-saving healthcare products to the people who depend on them.
On this “Thank a Trucker” day, we recognize the professionalism, care, and responsibility it takes to do this job right. Our drivers aren’t just moving freight, they’re helping ensure critical supplies arrive safely, on time, and without compromise.
It’s a role that demands focus, pride, and a deep understanding of what’s at stake. And it’s one our team carries out every day with quiet dedication.
To our Skelton drivers, and to drivers across the industry, thank you for the work you do and the difference you make on every mile.

t Skelton Truck Lines, safety isn’t something we check off, it’s built into everything we do.

That’s why we offer reimbursement for CSA-approved safety boots* for employees in safety-sensitive roles.
It’s a simple step that makes a real difference, supporting our team with the gear they need to stay protected, comfortable, and ready for the job ahead.
We’ve made the process quick and straightforward, because when our people are supported, confident, and safe, it strengthens everything we do as a team.

Foot pain is something many drivers know all too well.
The good news? A few simple habits can make a big difference. Adjust your seat so your legs and feet are properly supported and take regular breaks to stretch and move!ut on your knees, hips, and back as well.
This month on Health on the Highway, we’re highlighting the importance of paying attention to what your feet are telling you. Whether it’s stiffness, heel pain, or that burning, tingling feeling, these are signs your body needs a reset.
The good news? A few simple habits can make a big difference, Adjust your seat so your legs and feet are properly supported and take regular breaks to stretch and move!
Wear comfortable, supportive footwear and stretch and flex your feet before hopping down from your truck. At the end of your day, remove your boots and wash and dry your feet. If you’re relaxing, elevating your feet for a short time can improve circulation and reduce pain.
Foot health might not always be top of mind, but it plays a big role in overall comfort, focus, and safety on the road. Taking care of the small things helps you stay strong for the long haul.

If memory serves us right, this was Bruce Brenton’s first Kenworth “Anteater” and what a game changer it was!
This 1989 T600 helped redefine what drivers expected from a conventional cab. With its distinctive sloped hood and set-back front axle, it was built with aerodynamics and fuel efficiency in mind at a time when rising fuel costs were front and centre.
While the design turned heads and sparked a few debates, it didn’t take long for drivers to appreciate the real advantages, improved visibility, a tighter turning radius, and performance backed by a powerful CAT engine under the hood.
A bold step forward then, and still an iconic piece of trucking history today.

Every month, we like to share simple, healthier meal ideas that make life on the road a little easier.
But this month, we’re switching things up - we want to hear from you!
Where’s your go-to, truck-friendly stop for a great meal? Whether it’s a classic burger joint you swear by, or a sit-down spot with fresh salads, hearty sandwiches, and quality options, we want to know where you’re pulling in and what your must-have order is when you get there. Bonus points if they have healthy options!
Drop your favourites in the comments and help fellow drivers discover some great places to refuel, both the truck and themselves.
