A new addition to the De Bruyn’s Transport fleet! 🚛

We're pleased to introduce our new Vawdrey Quad Axle Semi-Trailer, featuring modern technology designed to improve safety, efficiency and day-to-day operations.

The new Performance-Based Standards (PBS) trailer includes several key features:

✅ Push-button curtains and buckles: Allowing operators to open and close curtains and buckles at the touch of a button, reducing manual handling.

✅ RightWeigh Bluetooth On-Board Mass (OBM): Providing real-time weight monitoring to support safe and compliant loading.

This latest addition reflects our continued investment in modern equipment and technology to support our drivers and deliver efficient transport services across Tasmania.

Celebrating 25 years of service with Thornton Bergman!

Thornton’s journey with De Bruyn’s Transport began as a boilermaker and welder apprentice through Work and Training, completing his four-year apprenticeship before going on to complete a diesel mechanic apprenticeship.

Over the past 25 years, he has been involved in a wide range of projects across the business, from maintaining our bark plant in the early days to working alongside Casey Pointon and Phil Allison on the construction of Unit 61, a DAF 2500.

His experience and skills have also played an important role in several major projects, including crane refurbishments, the refurbishment of the Ebenezer engine and the construction of our smolt tankers.

Along the way, Thornton has continued to develop his skills, gaining his HC licence and completing a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.

Throughout his time with De Bruyn’s, Thornton has built up an incredible amount of knowledge and experience, contributing to many of the projects and equipment that have supported our operations over the years.

Outside of work, Thornton is a passionate St Kilda supporter and enjoys speedway. He also has a strong connection to the Smithton Hockey Club, where he has been recognised with a lifetime membership.

We thank Thornton for his hard work, dedication and contribution over the past 25 years. Congratulations on an incredible milestone with De Bruyn’s Transport!

Celebrating two decades with Roger Stone at our Hobart Depot!

For 20 years, Roger has been a familiar face at De Bruyn’s Transport, leading our Hobart Depot and playing an important role in its day-to-day operations.

Since joining the business in 2006 as Depot Manager, Roger has seen plenty of growth and change, remaining a consistent presence throughout it all.

Much of what makes milestones like this special is the people behind them. Over the years, Roger has built strong relationships across the business, supporting his team and contributing to the continued development of our Hobart operation.

Away from the depot, Roger is a passionate Hawthorn supporter and enjoys a round of golf and making his own spirits.

Congratulations, Roger, on 20 years with De Bruyn’s Transport! We thank you for your leadership, commitment and everything you have contributed over the years.

One of the things we value most about our Bass Strait Transport team is the experience, loyalty and knowledge of the people who have been part of its story for so many years.

John Murray is a great example of that, and we're proud to recognise his 10 years of service.

Recognising 10 years of service from John Murray!

After retiring from his previous role in transport and moving down the coast, a chance meeting with a former colleague at a truck show led to John joining Bass Strait Transport full-time.

Over the past decade, he has worked across general freight, steel, country runs and moving trailers to and from the ferry services connecting Victoria and Tasmania.

For much of that time, John drove a Scania 480, taking it from around 100,000 to almost 900,000 kilometres. When the Spirit of Tasmania moved to Geelong in 2022, he became based there and today drives a Volvo Globetrotter.

With plenty of experience in the industry, John enjoys helping younger drivers and values the friendly, welcoming culture of Bass Strait Transport, where everyone is willing to lend a hand.

Outside of work, he enjoys classic cars, including his old BMW, and spending time at home.

We thank John for his experience, loyalty and contribution over the past decade. Congratulations on reaching 10 years with Bass Strait Transport!
