The State Government has extended the $25 lifting fee for accessible taxi trips in regional South Australia, similar to what is already available in metropolitan areas.

If you use a wheelchair, scooter or large ride-on mobility aide, you may be eligible to receive a non-SATSS Access Taxi Card.
This card will enable drivers to claim a lifting fee to cover their time assisting you in and out of the Access Taxi, which will help ensure customers receive a consistent service.

After a long competitive tender process through the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, Des’s Transport has been awarded the Port Augusta Bus Route Service which incorporates the school bus service as well.
This is a significant contract to be provided over the next 12 years.
Des’s have been providing bus route services to the community of Whyalla for the past 20 years and Taxi services to the Whyalla and Port Augusta communities for 60 years.
There will be no changes to the services on our commencement, however we will continually monitor the services to identify any changes that can be made to improve how the routes are operated.
Des’s Transport will commence this contract on Tuesday 3rd October 2023.
We acknowledge the service provided by the incumbent operator in recent years and thank them for their cooperation as we transition in.
We look forward to this opportunity and expansion of our bus operations and working on a bigger scale with the Port Augusta Community.
