OK, LET'S TRY SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT… 👀

Because this role is a little different, and we reckon the right person might be, too.

Don’t give up on the read because something didn’t sound right because for the right person, this role could be flexible for you.

We're looking for someone to lend a hand around the Farey Transport & Trading yard for around 20 hours a week. Rather than give you the usual job ad full of duties and requirements, we thought we'd tell you a little about the sort of person who might enjoy it and those that have held the role before you.

In the past, we've had someone in this role who was in his 70s. He loved being around people who shared his interest in the transport industry, enjoyed being part of the Farey team and liked having somewhere to go each day, people to catch up with and a reason to get out the door. It was something to look forward to, and he genuinely enjoyed being here whilst making a genuine impact – both within the workplace and on the people.

We've also had someone much earlier in their working life who wanted a foot in the door of the transport industry. He came in, got stuck into the work, learnt how a transport business operates and got to know the people behind it. Today, he's moved into an operations role in transport.

Two very different people. One role. And both got something worthwhile out of it.

So, who might be next? Remember, don’t give up on the read.

Maybe you're semi-retired and still enjoy keeping busy, having a laugh and being part of a team, but you're not looking for a full-time commitment.

Maybe you're starting out, keen to learn how the transport industry works and looking for an opportunity to get your foot in the door.

Or maybe you're somewhere in between. You're practical, reliable, enjoy a bit of banter and like having something useful to get stuck into each week.

The work itself is a bit of everything. One day you might be organising the shed, the next helping unload a truck, jumping on a forklift or lending a hand wherever the team needs you.

It's not glamorous work, and we're not going to pretend it is. But it matters. And being part of a team where people look out for each other makes a difference.

We're not hung up on age, fancy resumes or having years of transport experience. We'd much rather find someone who takes pride in what they do, has a good attitude, is happy to help and enjoys being around people.

Around 20 hours a week (or potentially more if you’re looking for it). A bit of variety. Good people. And an opportunity that could be whatever you make of it.

If this sounds like your sort of thing, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.

You don't need to have your whole career mapped out, and you don't need to tick every box. Just send us a message, tell us a little about yourself and let's have a chat.

Come be part of the Farey team. Let’s start by chatting.

And if someone came to mind while reading this, tag them or share the post. They might be just the person we're looking for.
