ππ SCHOOL BUS SAFETY: INFORMAL BUS STOPS ππ
Did you know that some school bus stops aren't sign-posted? These are known as informal bus stops and are commonly found in rural areas, sometimes at the front of a property or along the roadside.
Because drivers can sometimes have difficulty seeing children waiting at these stops, it's important for families to take extra care.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ A few important safety reminders for families:
β
Hold your child's hand and wait well back from passing traffic.
β
Meet your child AT the bus stop after school. Never wait on the opposite side of the road.
β
Wait until the bus has driven away before crossing, and always use a safe place to cross.
β
If you can't be there yourself, arrange for a trusted adult to meet your child.
π‘ Did you know? Allowing your child to travel a little further to another bus stop may help avoid the need to cross the road.
Let's work together to keep our little passengers safe, both on and off the bus! π

Your primary aged child is still developing an understanding of danger and safety. While they are often keen to do things for themselves, an adult must always be responsible for your child in the traffic environment.
