As we mark the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, we’re reminded of the importance of learning, listening and walking together toward a shared future.

This week, we acknowledge Palm Island (Bwgcolman) - the largest of the twelve islands in the Palm Island group, located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Palm Island is more than just a place, it holds deep cultural significance and a strong, resilient community. As we reflect during NRW 2026, this year’s theme, “All In,” calls on all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation, not just this week, but every day.

Reconciliation means recognising the histories and cultures of First Nations peoples, valuing connection to Country, and actively contributing to respectful relationships and opportunities for all.

Let’s take this time to learn more, listen deeply, and consider the role each of us can play in building a more inclusive and united Australia.
