Things are quite different in our world at the moment. We all are experiencing things that have never occurred for us before. Not many people are travelling to the airport as International flights are slashed and anyone returning from overseas must go into quarantine. Domestic flights too are almost at a standstill. Who would want to visit Melbourne at the moment?
Clubs and pubs are still open but operating at a much-reduced capacity.
As a result, my usual work as a hire car operator has virtually disappeared. I am used to working seven days a week, perhaps doing 10 or more jobs each day. Over the last couple of months, I have only done about 10 jobs in total.
I have been getting by with some grants from the government, but it does not feel right to me, I want to be out there working.
I had considered trying to find some other form of employment, but I still have two beautiful cars sitting in my driveway.
I have decided to try a change to the way I normally run my business during these troubling times.
I would like to offer a service that is more like having a mate with a car than a traditional hire car service.
I could take you to the shops to do the shopping, pick up or drop off your children at school, take you to a medical appointment or be the designated driver if you do decide to go out for dinner. I could take you to Bunnings and help you purchase supplies for that garden overhaul you are planning and then hook up their complimentary trailer to get it all back home.
My plan would be not to charge my normal rates, but perhaps discuss your transport needs and reach a mutually acceptable agreement on the fare.
I am open to any suggestions or ideas you may have so please give me a call so we can sort something out.
