💗 A MOMENT TO REMEMBER. A MESSAGE OF LOVE. A SHARED MOMENT OF HOPE. 💗

As part of our afternoon together at The Pink Train for BCNA, our journey to Mornington will include a very special moment at our Mini Field of Women.

While it is only one small part of our fundraising lunch and afternoon, it carries a very big meaning.

Amongst the display, our guests will have the opportunity to write a special message of love, support, hope or remembrance for someone who is close to their heart and in their thoughts on this day. 💗

It might be for someone currently facing breast cancer, someone who has come through the journey, someone we have sadly lost, or simply someone who has touched your life.

Take a moment. Write their name. Leave a message. Share your love.

And before we continue our journey, we’ll bring our guests and volunteers together for a special group photo — capturing the people who came together to support an important cause and the community behind The Pink Train for BCNA.

Because this day is about more than a train ride.

It’s about remembering. Supporting. Connecting. And standing together. 💗

In the mid to late 1970s Sunshine station on a Saturday afternoon was a popular spot for rail photography. There would be quite a gunzel gathering, usually at the up end of the UP platform, to photograph all sorts of goods traffic on both gauges, plus broad gauge passenger and suburban traffic, as it passed through.

This grab shot shows us X43 pulling in for a timetabled stop on the 1.40 pm Spencer Street to Bendigo pass. You can see the destination on the platform 2 pull-down Bathgate Indicator.

Meanwhile, temporarily impeding the Bendigo's progress is an up Ballarat pass with T411, coming in from Deer Park way and entering for a set down stop on platform 1. They've recently had a go at washing 411 with the mild acid concoction popular at the time. It was quite a job minimising the cast iron brake block dust etched into the paint, the main offender with cosmetic presentation of VR locos back then.
