It was with much sadness that we learnt of the passing of Bob Donaldson on November 15 at John Hunter Hospital (Newcastle). Bob drove for such people as Noel Daly & Stephen Fogarty before moving to the Taxi Base to work as an Operator. Some people may remember him from his days at Bartles Menswear where he worked with proprietor Reg, Greg Broad, Ellis Davidson etc. .

We were all very fond of Bob but lost touch with him after his retirement. We knew he'd moved to the Hunter area but had little contact!

We'd like to express our condolences to His brother Ray, his sister Marion and the rest of his family

It was with some regret that we noticed in the Gazette this week, the Death Notice of former Base operator Nola Gurney. Nola had a great voice - people just loved listening to her.. for her "Day Job" she worked at Elgas Katoomba - long before we bought the property in Albion Street and had our own LPG installation! She was in her early 80s!

Although we have said several times that this page is not the official page of Katoomba Leura Radio cabs (now more commonly known as Katoomba Taxis) we were saddened to hear of the passing of Denny Pearce in Western Australia this morning. Denny and his wife at the time ran Car 8 for a number of years. In later years he lived out near Cahill's Lookout and was a regular patron of our Taxi Service. Denny was 91! He was a legend in Katoomba. We extend our sympathies to his family, knowing that our Community will be a different place with his passing!

By now, most of our regulars will be aware that driver Dave Proctor was found deceased in his Flat in Katoomba on Tuesday Morning March 29. Although just 49 years old, he had several health issues and was experiencing a really bad dose of the Flu. He had attended the Hospital on Wednesday morning & had been given appropriate medication.

Although Funeral Arrangements are tentatively in place these will not be confirmed until the Coroner has completed formalities. Details will be published on this page.

Dave has been driving with us for nearly sixteen years in regular "white cabs" & was generally held in high regard, especially amongst the night owls. For the past several years he also held a Wheelchair Drivers Authority becoming well known and even more popular amongst people with disabilities & special needs.

Those who knew Dave well will regale you with the details of his varied working career. Many know amongst other achievements, that Dave was a Tennis Umpire, a Cricket Umpire, and an Aussie Rules Umpire, but did you know that Dave is a former Franciscan Brother? He was also a dedicated Sydney Swans fan & was instrumental in their LGBTI supporter group "Rainbow Swans" being officially recognised by the Club.

We extend our sympathy to his mum Stella, his brother Bernard and his sister Helen along with her family.

R.I.P. Dave, you will be sorely missed. We're sure you'll be "signing on" elsewhere!

We've just heard that one of our long standing drivers David Nossiter has passed away. We will miss him sorely. We extend our sympathy to his partner Lynne, to Olivia, Jeremy, Dylan and to all in his his extended family. Dave, a most familiar face aound Katoomba & a loveable rogue at times, will be sorely missed. He was always good for a laugh, was most helpful to clients & was a proud, caring, considerate "old school" driver. A huge loss to us at Katoomba Leura Radio Cabs. Vale Dave Nossiter. You've had a rough few weeks mate, now Rest In Peace.
